since the artists dont have to compete to be original they can just slap together some sub-par lyrics to a crunk sounding beat and call it hyphy...

The lyrics are not just sub-par, they are straight garbage for the most part. I have yet to hear a hyphy artist display any type of lyrical content with the exception of a few cats.. The Team, Mac Dre, etc..

Anybody who can piece together rhymes can write a hyphy song because there are no standards. As long as you yap about being hyphy, you're in. E-40 is one of the worst lyricists in the world, but he's riding the bandwagon and creating this hyphy garbage and a lot of these kids actually think he's a good rapper LMAO! His style is original and catchy, but he has no content what-so-ever..
