hip hop meaning the culture?

if the rap music aspect of it is what your askin, hip hop was formed of some shit that cats was doin, and they was all on some other shit, be it writing on walls, scratchin vinyls, rhymin to a beat, doin a flare or gyro, cats was on some other shit and it spread. cats doin music nowadays thats rap (related) and cats aint feelin them, they say hip hop is dead, but i bet you every 10 year old generation of rap music fans say (good) hip hop is dead when shit they grew up on isnt dominating anymore. and hip hop still seems to be up and alive very much so, probably biggest its ever been. doesnt mean i like all this new shit, cus as far as hip hop music, im still slappin shit from the 90's like im still in high school.

Lyrical hip hop is cool at times but fuck listening to that 24/7. I throw it on here and there but I wanna listen to music because it sounds good, most of that shit has really similar production and I usually don't like that east coast sound a lot go for.

i honestly dont even like "hip-hop." that term brings up backpack rap in my mind and most of it is not very good, save for the grouch & eligh and a select few. the best new hip-hopper from the bay is probably davinci. i prefer gangsta rap any day tho

I don't get why niggas always gotta pigeonhole terms and genres based on where niggas is from. The best rappers can incorporate all styles into their music. One of the main reasons why the WestCoast has been down so long is because cats didn't know how to grow from JUST gangsta rap. In LA its cats like Nipsey and Dom Kennedy who spit gangsta shit but in a hip hop lyrical way. That's how the West is gonna get back on top.
