LOL @ hated on. Nobody cares about the Arizona Cardinals, sorry. They're gonna have to do more than make it to the postseason once and make more than one fluke SuperBowl run to be among the most hated teams.

Yep gotta give it to the Cards today. They not only beat us but beat the shit out of us and embarassed us at home. It was hard to watch, I actually said fuck it and slept in my chair from the middle of the 3rd quarter till the end. Now we gotta wait 2 weeks to see if we can recover. Hopefully we come back after the bye refreshed with a couple more starters and can make something out of this season.

LOL @ "big upset." Did I miss something major? I don't see how the Seahawks were heavily favored here, cuz that's the only way this could be a big upset. I guess beating down on 2 of the worst teams in the NFL made you think you were heavy favorites here? Fill me in.

I thought the Seahawks could pull this off because Arizona really isn't that good. I guess I gave them too much credit, although I did say it would be a toss-up.

Also, no injury excuses today?
It's a big upset for the Hawks for a couple of reasons. And one of them is what you are speaking on. A lot of them NFL "experts" picked the Hawks, so they were obviously favored in this game, but I don't give a shit about who they pick. Another reason is the Hawks needed this win real bad. The Hawks wanted to go into the BYE week at 3-3, instead of 2-4.

No injury excuses today because Lofa Tatupu and Patrick Kerney were pretty much the only key injuries today, and they have good backup's. The Hawks just couldn't get shit done today. They looked like the Jags did against us last week.

Let us look up the definition of the word "excuse.."

Implying that they have been losing because of injuries fits the definition of an excuse.

1. To judge with forgiveness: it's not their fault they're losing, it's due to injuries to key players.
2. Seek to remove the blame of: it's not the team's fault, it's the injuries.
3. Justification: well, they have injuries, so that's why they lost.

It's an excuse. I never said it wasn't a valid one, but it is an excuse nonetheless.

Injuries are a part of the game, which is why every team seeks reliable depth. Blaming losses on them is an excuse for the poor play.
its a combination of BOTH. If you think missing your starting PROBOWL HOF LT, your PROBOWL CB, and are starting your 4th STRING OL is NOT an EXPLANATION as to WHY they look bad, you're delusional. LOL...are you suggesting that every team should be GREAT at all positions depth wise? That is impossible. If you're starters go down, it is going to show. There is a REASON someone is NOT a starter, plain & simple.

If the 9ers lost Willis, 2 starting DT's, and Clemente, and the D suffered because of it, would you really just say "well, its the 9ers fault for not having backups that are as good as the starters". That is COMPLETELY unrealistic. COMPLETELY. If you lose starters, ITS GOING TO AFFECT THE WAY YOU PLAY, PERIOD. Its called a discrepancy in TALENT, which makes STARTERS and BACKUPS who they ARE. EVERY team is like that.

Go back to last year...who was the most INJURED team, and by A LOT all year? The Seahawks. And it showed. 2nd string QB, and 2nd & 3rd string OL all year, and i dont even want to mention that the ENTIRE WR corp was injured to the point we had to go get two guys off the STREET. Go and olook and tell me WHO was the leading WR last year for us. I will give you a hint: it wasn't a fuckin WR. But, that is no "excuse", right? The Hawks should have rose up, with LESS talent, and won anyways.

I'm really annoyed at people who can not decipher between "excuses" and "explanations" as to WHY we have played poorly. Sure, there are other FACTORS, but KEY injuries have been a LARGE PART of the reason. If you cant see that, that you should assess water polo instead.

can we get some more credit here, cardinals = most slept on, hated on, never credited enough nfl team right now.

LMAO!!!

Are you kidding me?

The Cardinals are consistantly ranked as one of the worst pro sports franchises of all-time

Nobody "sleeps on", "hates", or "withholds credit" from a organization that is universally recognized as a failure.

Yeah at the beginning of the season. The 9ers are only one game ahead of the Cards and Hawks. The 9ers are going to lose to the Texans, and the Hawks are going to beat the Cards. Leaving the Hawks at 3-3 going into the BYE week and playing Dallas and beating them, leaving the Hawks at 4-3,

^^^^^
and this vagina has the nerve to call niner fans "homers" GTFOH SON!

fuck both these teams!!! both have never won shit but walk around like theyre somebody. when in presence of the niners they better walk around with their fucken heads down looking half dead!

remember we're still 1st in the division.

Leaving the Hawks at 3-3 going into the BYE week and playing Dallas and beating them, leaving the Hawks at 4-3, while the 9ers lose to the Colts, leaving them at 3-4. And then I'll be able to tell you that the Hawks are leading the NFC West, but it still won't mean shit, not until towards the end of the season.
I was speaking on hypothetical situations.

Right on, Ron.

I thought you meant it was a "big upset" as in Seattle being heavily favored. By heavily favored I don't mean that they were picked by many of the analysts, I mean that they were favored to win by a big margin because they're supposed to be that good. We both know that's not the case, so I was just wondering what you meant by "BIG upset." Technically it was an upset because I believe Seattle was indeed favored, but I wouldn't dare call it a "big upset" because the game was a toss-up, in my opinion.

What you fail to acknowledge is injuries are a part of the game and should be expected. It's a physical game, this is not golf. When New England lost Tom Brady they didn't say "oh, it's OK if we suck because we lost our allstar QB, so people will still acknowledge us as a good team even if we stop winning because we have an excuse."

Any time you look for a reason a team is losing, IT IS AN EXCUSE. Like it or not. I don't even have to argue this with you. Look at the definition of the word and tell me you guys aren't making excuses by blaming the losses on injury.

And if that happened to the Niners, blaming the poor play on injuries would be AN EXCUSE. And if the situations were reverse and Niner fans kept blaming everything on injuries, everyone would probably be on our asses talking about how it's no excuse. Why should you guys get a pass? I never said the excuses you are making aren't VALID. They are. But no matter how true they are, they are still excuses.

Last year our excuse was Mike Nolan is a horrible coach and that's why our team sucked ass at the beginning of the season. While that was true, it was still an excuse. Nolan's lack of competency was our excuse for failure. Right now the injuries to your team are your excuse for failure.

You're smart enough to know this, so start acting like it.

LOL...even if they DIDN'T have Cassel, that would have been a VERY viable "excuse" had they HAD a losing record. THAT is the point. Teams' aren't expected to perform at its highest level when starters are missing. End of discussion.

EXPLANATION, as I have been saying now for YEARS.

Main Entry: ex·pla·na·tion
Pronunciation: \ˌek-splə-ˈnā-shən\
Function: noun
Date: 14th century

1 : the act or process of explaining
2 : something that explains <gave no explanation>

Example-

Mother: "Son, why didnt you eat your dinner?"

Son: "Because my stomach is not feeling well and I thought I might throw up"

The EXPLANATION for why the son didn't eat is becuase his stomach did not feel well.

If a gymnast broke her leg and could not participate in a meet, would that be an excuse or an explanation?

And if that happened to the Niners, blaming the poor play on injuries would be AN EXCUSE. And if the situations were reverse and Niner fans kept blaming everything on injuries, everyone would probably be on our asses talking about how it's no excuse. Why should you guys get a pass? I never said the excuses you are making aren't VALID. They are. But no matter how true they are, they are still excuses.
Fair enough.

You're smart enough to know this, so start acting like it.
Again, its about the CONTEXT in which the word "excuse" is being brought up, as it is a scapegoat for being bad (example: "excuses, excuses...you guys suck"). YOU'RE smart enough to know this, so start acing like it.

Now, we can continue to argue in circles all you want. You see it as an excuse, I see it as an explanation. It is what it is.

Seahawks LB Tatupu may not miss season after all

RENTON, Wash. (AP)—Seahawks star linebacker Lofa Tatupu(notes) may not be out for the season after all.

Seattle coach Jim Mora said Monday that further tests on the three-time Pro Bowler’s chest muscle indicated a partial tear rather than the complete one doctors told him Tatupu had the day before.

“After further review and further imaging, we’re not certain yet Lofa is done. They did an MRI test, and it doesn’t look like the muscle and tendons are completely detached from the bone,” Mora said, one day after Tatupu got hurt in Seattle’s 27-3 loss to Arizona and was then declared out.

“So that might have been a little premature … we’ll keep our fingers crossed there.”
