We Seriously need a Change in this Country and Obama will not be that change.

We are failing economically, the US empire is coming to an end, the Dollar is going to collapse soon.

The government is getting too involved in the Economy bailing out Corporations, now they are talkin about bailing out auto companies. The government is fuckin everything up. Let them fail, let them go bankrupt, they will get bought up and have new management and prosper in 6months to a year. Now its possible it could last for a decade.

The US needs to go back to Saving and Producing instead of borrowing and consuming. We seriously need a change quick or it will be hell soon.

This country and the world as a whole need to get their priorities list in order

even saving and producing needs to go away.
the whole system will be in need of a change.
We need to save and produce, export more than import. This is the only way we can make money. Lower taxes and cut spending. This has to be the only way to get out of this mess.

Our leaders Do not understand that. If they do not understand this, then they will continue destroying the economy.

Doesnt matter who would of gotten into office, they both believe in big government and government intervention.

Obama voted for the bailout, there is no way he can help out if he doesnt understand that government and the federal reserve intervention is what got us into this mess.

^^ so youre saying "fuck it, we're screwed im giving up"?
How is that giving up? Because i didnt vote?

Who do you support?

Inflation will kick in soon once companies stop their liquidations. We are in a deflation period, prices are falling, but soon prices will skyrocket and there wont be an end in sight for years to come.

Heres a quote from Peter Schiff

In my view, there is a real possibility that a new administration in Washington will confront its economic challenges with New Deal-type programs that will only exacerbate the damage and turn the current recession into a repeat of the Great Depression, only with the consumer prices rising instead of falling. As I write this in Mid-2008, the government still claims the US economy is not in recession. This absurdity is premised on not having two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth, the widely accepted definition of recession. However, with the government determining the GDP and using highly suspect inflation rates with which to adjust the nominal rise, we may never officially be in a recession. With the automobile, airline, and housing industries in outright collapse and our banking and financial system on government life support, grim reality once again conflicts with government fantasy.

I didnt do nothing about it? I sent my representatives letters that i was against the bail out and i threatened them that they will not be in office for 2009 if they voted for it. They did. I talked to people about what they have done with their tax dollars and I'm sure what i said spread around. They did not get voted back into office.

Now stick to the topic, there is already a thread about complaining

The current Global Economic Crisis is a sideshow compared to the Environmental Challenges we are facing now and in the future.....Species are disappearing at a rate of up to one every 3 hours.

That isn't our biggest problem, extinctions have occured and will occur again

Goal #1: save advanced life on the planet
Goal #2: save ourselves, which is largely equivalent to #1, with the slight difference that #1 can happen even if #2 doesn't

And how are we supposed to do that if there isn't any money?
Money means nothing

What matters is energy (negentropy to be exact). Money does not move objects around and does not keep you alive

If we mobilize the whole world to a level of awareness of the situation and willingness to sacrifice their lifestyle above that of WWII, build a carbon-free economy in less than 10 years, and manage to persuade people to have just 1 child per woman or less (with forced abortion and sterilization following a second pregnancy, of course), we can avoid the worst relatively easy. If we don't do that, nature will take care of us in a much nastier way. And we should realzie that even if we do all that, which is impossible given the situation today, we will still suffer the consequences of the points of no return we have already passed: several degrees global warming with all the bad things that follow from that: a few meters sea level rise, climate change in a number of regions, etc.

Yea man, I realize that, over 99% of any species that has ever survived on this planet is now extinct, which is inevitable that it will happen to humans as well. It's not only species that are at risk, I'm talkin about rainforest depletion, Greenland and Antarctica melting, Acid rain from pollution, all sorts of problems that are completely irreversible if we continue on this path, which is the way it's looking right now.

China, India, and Brasil are slated to be the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th largest economies in the world within the next 10-15 years, and guess what those 3 countries combined are almost half the world's population. China is on pace to build one coal plant per week for the next several years and coal is the absolute worst pollutant in terms of burning greenhouse gasses.

On a side note, a lot of species currently on the "possibl extinct" Red List for 2008, which is being filled at a much faster rate than in previous centuries, could help us as humans with curing diseases. For example, the Australian Brooding Frog, which is known for incubating it's young inside it's stomach, could point ways to treating ulcers. Also, some of these species such as the Blue Buck Antelope in South Africa helps to boost tourism and in turn, boost local economies.
