Maybe in the next couple years I'll be slurring my speech a lot more than a lot of these other guys, maybe I'll be walking with a limp, maybe I won't remember my kids' names. But they can say their daddy never quit.

shelled out 400 bills for some great ass seats for this. looks to be a dope card and i can't wait for the maynard vs Flo fight, boston fans are gonna go crazy for that but i honestly love both fighters so dont care who wins. Toney should dominate couture and BJ will prolly kill frankie this time around. they also bringing the fan expo here for 2 days, has anyone ever gone to one? and if so is it worth the 50bucks
how much were ur seats? 400$ or 4,000$? toney to dominate? i would bet my right nut that toney cant stuff a td for jack shit. randy has always been one of the best "game plan" guys and im sure he knows james toney has to be put on his back. randy round 1 via james toney gassing the fk out after trying to grapple for 5 minutes

Phil Baroni off UFC 118 card due to collarbone injury

UFC welterweight Phil Baroni (13-12 MMA, 3-6 UFC) is out of next month's UFC 118 event and his fight with John Salter (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) due to a collarbone injury.

Baroni's agent, Ken Pavia of MMAAgents.com, today confirmed the news with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

"He suffered a minor injury that interrupted his preparations," Pavia said. "It's not going to be a long-term problem."

UFC 118 takes place Aug. 28 at TD Garden in Boston, and Baroni vs. Salter was slated for the un-aired preliminary card.

A replacement search is underway, and Baroni is expected to be added to a fall UFC card. However, Baroni declined to comment on the injury when contacted by MMAjunkie.com earlier today.

Baroni, who made his UFC debut more than nine years ago, was likely fighting for his life in the organization following a one-sided unanimous-decision loss to Amir Sadollah at UFC 106. The fight marked the 34-year-old's return to the organization after a nearly five-year absence and followed a streak of three wins in four fights. Losing his spot on the UFC 118 card is especially tough since it would given him a chance to fight close to home.

Salter, meanwhile, is an NAIA national wrestling champion who also owns a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. The 25-year-old went 4-0 in just a seven-month pro career before he signed with the UFC. In his promotional debut, he then suffered a hard-fought third-round TKO loss to Gerald Harris at UFC Fight Night 20. Then, a UFC 113 fight was cut short when opponent Jason MacDonald suffered a nasty leg injury that left him with a dislocated ankle and multiple leg fractures. Salter benefits from MacDonald's bad luck and got the TKO win.

Dan Miller replaces Phil Baroni, meets John Salter on UFC 118 preliminary card

By now, John Salter (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) should be used to last-minute opponent changes.

Following middleweight Phil Baroni's withdrawal from their fight at UFC 118, sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Dan Miller (11-4 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has stepped in to meet the Southerner on the event's preliminary card.

MMADiehards.com first reported the change.

UFC 118 takes place Aug. 28 at the TD Garden in Boston and features a lightweight title rematch between current champion Frankie Edgar and former champion B.J. Penn in the pay-per-view headliner.

As MMAjunkie.com reported earlier today, Baroni was forced off the card due to a collarbone injury.

It's the second time Salter's opponent has been switched, though today's change comes with considerably more notice. Most recently, the fighter was scheduled to take on Nick Catone at UFC 113 in Montreal before Catone bowed out with a back injury. The promotion subsequently slotted UFC veteran David Loiseau in Catone's place, but a snafu with the Régie des Alcools des Courses et des Jeux (Quebec's athletic commission) took him off the table.

Salter wound up fighting UFC vet Jason MacDonald on about a week's notice, and he won the match when the Canadian broke his leg in the first round of the fight.

Although not necessarily the outcome he wanted, Salter reversed his prior disappointing octagon debut in which he suffered a TKO loss to Gerald Harris at UFC Fight Night 20.

Miller, meanwhile, has one last shot at redemption after he suffered his third consecutive UFC loss, which came to Michael Bisping at UFC 114. Prior to that fight, the fighter said he expected to be cut, but MMAjunkie.com reported afterward that he would receive another chance.

In the buildup to UFC 114, it became known that Miller's family suffered from serious health problems that interrupted his fighting life within this past year. The former IFL standout admitted the battles had tested his ability to stay focused on fighting, though he made it clear he took nothing away from his opponents' performances.

Miller, a New Jersey native, is the brother of UFC lightweight Jim Miller and impressed with three consecutive UFC wins before he hit his recent slide.

The UFC 118 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

* Champ Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn (for lightweight title)
* Randy Couture vs. James Toney
* Nate Marquardt vs. Rousimar Palhares
* Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard
* Marcus Davis vs. Nate Diaz

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

* Gerald Harris vs. Alessio Sakara
* Terry Etim vs. Joe Lauzon

PRELIMINARY CARD

* Nik Lentz vs. Andre Winner
* Dan Miller vs. John Salter*
* Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto
* Amilcar Alves vs. Mike Pierce

* - Not officially announced

^ Marquardt vs. Palhares got moved to the next Fight Night after Belcher got hurt.
I'm really hoping for some reason a lot of people put a lot of action on Maynard. I don't see how Kenny loses that fight barring getting hurt/KO'd on a slam or something weird like that.

The fight card for next week's UFC 118 event is complete, UFC officials today announced.

The 10-bout lineup features a champion rematch between lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn, and Randy Couture meets boxer James Toney in the UFC 118 co-headliner.

And though the bout originally was targeted for the preliminary card, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed the removal of a Gerald Harris vs. Joe Vedepo middleweight bout from the night's preliminary card.

UFC 118 takes place Aug. 28 at TD Garden in Boston. Two preliminary fights air as part of Spike TV's "UFC Prelims" special, and then the main card airs on pay-per-view.

Lightweights bouts of Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger and Nik Lentz vs. Andre Winner take the Spike TV slots, and 155-pounders Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard, middleweights Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda, and welterweights Marcus Davis vs. Nate Diaz round out the PPV main card.

A source said Harris and Vedepo could be shifted to a later card (or cards, possibly against new opponents) and that "scheduling issues" were to blame for the UFC 118 cancellation.

UFC 118 is the UFC's first-ever show in Massachusetts, which only recently became regulating MMA.

The full UFC 118 card includes:

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

* Champ Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn (for lightweight title)
* Randy Couture vs. James Toney
* Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda
* Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard
* Marcus Davis vs. Nate Diaz

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

* Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger
* Nik Lentz vs. Andre Winner

PRELIMINARY CARD

* Dan Miller vs. John Salter
* Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto
* Amilcar Alves vs. Mike Pierce

I think the main cards dope, all these fights have future implications for fighting for the belt, and of coarse the main event is for the belt, ken-flo and maynard should be sicc, plus nate diaz he's been moving up the ladder, I say maybe 2 more fights and he's fighting for a title
