I THINK TAKEDOWNS ARE A MUST BUT I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE GROUND AND POUND AFTER THE TAKEDOWN HAS BEEN DONE. I THINK THAT GRABBING SOMEONE AND LEANING THAT PERSON AGAINST THE CAGE THE WHOLE FIGHT IS REDICULOUS.... BECAUSE THATS JUST TRYING TO HOLD YOUR OPPONENT TO PLAY IT SAFE TILL THE ROUND IS OVER AND THATS GARBAGE AND VERY BORING TO WATCH.
It takes two to tango.

btw don't get it twisted Rashad deserved a lot of props. This gif right here is so fucking sick. The combination of technique, athleticism and explosiveness is nasty. Faked the hands cause he knew rampage uses crazy monkey defense and explode into the high double leg.

my thing is... the way they both talked shit... Rashad shouldnt have played this takedown game... this was supposed to be some black on black crime.... crime involves violence... not black on black smudges all over the damn octagon floor.... rashad made this a boring fight. and rampage wanted to stand and bang.... rampage will train harder and come back better... but rashad really pulled a koscheck and went for the for sure win... instead of living up to fight hype... but seriously... whats the worst that can happen? a $75,000 KO of the night check??? cmon....

lol ... Go watch the fight again. There was PLENTY of opportunity for Rampage to make it an "exciting" fight and he didn't. He said it himself that he hesitated too much.

We may have just witnessed the game passing Rampage by.

The bright side is, looks like we're getting Rampage vs Machida later this year.

If Rampage ends up fighting Machida next he'll have an even harder time catching him. Will probably look something like Machida vs Tito. IMO They should match him up with someone lower on the ladder but still a higher level fighter like Thiago Silva. Or maybe re-match with Forrest?

Ring rust is real, Rampage will be back though.

How do you guys think Shogun-Evans plays out?

I'm a lot more interested in Shogun-Evans than I was in Evans-Rampage... I think it will be a great fight... they both have speed/stamina/technique and it's good to Shogun at 100% again... I would have to give the edge to him as the vet with superior skill, but Evans is hungry and really anything can happen...

Evans has been rocked in every single of his last 3 fights so you can be assured if Shogun rocks him, he'll finish him. Rashad won't be able to stay so far out like he did vs Ramage because Shogun actually uses kicks. And Shogun never defends a take down because his jiu jitsu is sick as fuck and he'll sweep Rashad no problem. Should be a good fight tho.

Shogun is gonna destroy that scary punk. I never seen a mma fighter stay on the outside as badly as Rashad did and it makes me sick. It wasnt all cuz of ring rust that the fight went the way it did

How do you guys think Shogun-Evans plays out?
I think it's an interesting fight because Rashad 2.0 seems to be a lot more comfortable with that style of mixing the striking and the wrestling. Being comfortable means you're confident which goes a long way.

Shogun is an aggressive Chute Box guy who WILL give up a takedown or two. He seems content with not fighting TDs because he's good at getting up off of his back. If he comes in with that high guard like he did against Machida, (which I doubt because that was specific for Machida, imo) he's going to be on his back for most of the fight.

Leg kicks sound like the way to go, but that's another way to get taken down. So we might just see a boxing match with some takedowns and sweeps in between.

If that's the case, I give the hand speed advantage to Rashad, the chin advantage to Shogun and the power advantage to ... I have no idea.

The other thing is, Shogun's frame isn't as big as Rashad's last 4 opponents so I wouldn't rule out Rashad ragdolling Shogun and getting a couple of nice slams and maybe some GnP. Or maybe Shogun trains a TON of TDD to keep the fight standing and eventually catches Rashad with some fancy shmancy wheel kick thing, lol

I think Shogun will be able to limit Rashad's movement, with some work to the legs & body early. Like he did to Machida in the first fight. And unlike the Rampage fight, I don't think the clinch is where he would want to be ideally, with Shogun.

I think it'll be a good fight, Rashad earned it...I'll be rooting for Shogun though no doubt.
