Rashad came in with a good gameplan, and executed. Boring? Yes. But he did what he was supposed to do and got the win. I think the year off, as well as the additional weight cut definitely affected Rampage.

I think that scoring points on takedowns and doing absolutely nothing with it is bullshit, but from a judges standpoint, you really have no choice, you can't award the guy getting taken down for allowing it to happen, so you have to give credit to the person who is imposing their will on the other.

The ending to the Duffee fight was insane! LOL

I thought that Brilz did enough to win, but I was definitely rooting for Little Nog. Some very nice sweeps by Nog in that one.
takedowsn were so affective cause rampage couldnt even get back up from them really. it's aggresion in the fight and in any fighting sport if you contol the tempo in the whole fight then you win. like griffin vs rampage griffin kept truckin forward and got the W on it.

I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST TAKEDOWNS OR THE CLENCH AGAINST THE FENCE BUT IF YOUR NOT THROWING ANY PUNCHES AND ALL YOUR DOING IS HOLDING YOUR OPPENENT UP AGAINST THE CAGE UNTIL THE CLOCK COUNTS DOWN THEN THATS JUST BORING. I AGREE GSP DOES THAT SAME SHIT BUT ITS USUALLY FOLLOWED BY SOME SORT OF STRIKES.... SHIT.... BROCK LESNAR DOES THAT SHIT AND THEN TURNS PEOPLES FACES INTO HAMBURGER MEAT.

I agree with skilz...people are just pissed off Rampage lost and are looking for excuses to give to Rampage....Rashad caught Rampage with about 15 punches in the whole fight as well as taking him down about 5 times....

Hopefully Rashad adds to his highlight reel in the next fight
WELL I DONT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT RASHAD OR RAMPAGE BUT I KNOW RAMPAGE WILL STAND UP AND GO FROM THE SHOULDERS. I FEEL SORRY FOR ANYBODY THAT PAID 55 DOLLARS TO WATCH A BIG BLANKET. IF FIGHTERS KEEP DOING WHAT RASHAD DOES THAN MMA WILL NOT BE A VERY EXCITING SPORT.

He wasn't a blanket. How many times did Herb Dean stand them up from a ground position? Rampage couldn't do anything. Blame Rampage, not Rashad. Give the man his credit for out MMA'ing Rampage.
I DONT REMEMBER HERB DEAN STANDING THEM UP AT ALL. I REMEMBER HERB DEAN PULLING THEM APART AND RESTARTING THEM BECAUSE ALL RASHAD WANTED TO DO WAS CLENCH AGAINST THE FENCE. EVERY TAKEDOWN IN THE WHOLE FIGHT THE OTHER FIGHTER GOT UP AND OUT OF IT WITHOUT THE REFEREE HAVING TO INTERVENE.

IMO the commissions should take a good look at how japanese mma judge fights and make fighters push the action by taking away a certain % of their purse if they aren't trying to fight. I give major props to Herb Dean. If he didn't break Rashad's 'wall and stall' tactic up so many times we would of watched 15 minutes of leaning against the cage.

Rashad wall and stalled and ran away the entire fight. It's almost impossible to cut someone off who is constantly running in the octagon because there are no corners like in a ring.

I THINK MACHIDA RUINED RASHAD AND SENT HIM BACK IN TIME IN THE DELOREAN TO HIS BLANKET DAYS.... BECAUSE FOR A COUPLE FIGHTS UNTIL HE GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT BY MACHIDA RASHAD WAS ACTUALLY KNOCKING CATS OUT.

In order for Rashad to 'wall and stall' he had to get to Rampage's body. In order to get to Rampage's body, he had to initiate the engagement. Rashad was the aggressor 90% of the fight. He was trying to get Page down. Give Rampage credit for stopping the takedowns while up against the fence.

Don't act like Rampage didn't have space and opportunity to do his thing. He was hesitant because he was worried about getting taken down and within 30 seconds of the fight he got caught. Rashad made Rampage look VERY VERY SLOW. Give him some credit.

This isn't Pride FC. That shit is over and you'll never get it back :lick:

Who cares if it isn't Pride, UFC is fucking up bad as of late. There gonna suffer eventually with these weak cards and allowing fighters to win that are satisfied with winning by decision

I have no problem with wrestling, but fighters are starting to abuse the system. We see this shit happen in all sports and eventually the sport and the rules evolve because certain athletes/teams find ways to exploit loopholes. The good thing is MMA is super young and I was reading a recent Mario Yamasaki interview where he said that they are trying to change the way fights are scored. The octagon already heavily favors wrestling and the rules don't help out either. Here are some changes i'd like to see implemented:

-knees to grounded opponent. would make wrestlers pay who don't finish take downs

-smaller time window when against the cage. either you're active doing damage or you get separated. shouldn't have all day to finish a take down.

-no points at all for take downs. you have already earned the dominant position by being on top. earn your points by doing damage or attempting to finishing the fight.

-octagon control is gone. this is the biggest culprit. people are abusing this and winning just by leaning against someone against the cage or getting take downs and just sitting in someones guard. remove this and make it so the person trying to finish the fight is rewarded.

That's like saying 'no points for strikes'. Why penalize the offensive fighter just because his discipline happens to be wrestling in this case? He's imposing his will just like the striker imposes his will with aggressive striking.

You have to take into consideration that there are 2 guys in that Octagon and neither one of them wants the other to finish that fight, so yeah, there will be a struggle.

If I don't want to get punched in the face, I block, right?

If I don't want to get subbed, I learn sub defense, right?

If I don't want to get taken down, then I should learn some TDD.

Takedowns are damaging. Just because you can't always SEE the damage doesn't mean they don't do damage. We both have seen fights finished with slams. And before you try to separate slams and takedowns ... don't.

I THINK TAKEDOWNS ARE A MUST BUT I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE GROUND AND POUND AFTER THE TAKEDOWN HAS BEEN DONE. I THINK THAT GRABBING SOMEONE AND LEANING THAT PERSON AGAINST THE CAGE THE WHOLE FIGHT IS REDICULOUS.... BECAUSE THATS JUST TRYING TO HOLD YOUR OPPONENT TO PLAY IT SAFE TILL THE ROUND IS OVER AND THATS GARBAGE AND VERY BORING TO WATCH.
