Unfortunately, that's the way of the future for Rap (on a mainstream level especially) if someone doesn't step up quick and put an end to this kind of bullshit sound. People will do whatever to sell or get some exposure and in that case, it's using this wack ass sound. I really don't get how people like this shit. I personally use the 90's vibe as a standard to base my judgements on because I feel 90's Rap was the top for the Rap game, soundwise, lyrically, everything and if no shit comes close these days, I don't listen to it. The 90's defined Rap. 2000's is something else, more like Dance, going back to the 80's or something with corny ass sound. I'm not saying all new shit is wack, but most of it is, a lot of it is influenced by this new wack club pop sound, it's like an epidemic. Producers need to step up their game, because these beats are influencing a lot of the silly lyrics as well and opening the doors for shitty ass rappers. I mean you simply can't Rap like Tupac did on a Laffy Taffy beat, they just don't mix. Imagine Tupac doing "Keep Your Head up" on a Hyphy beat. Cmon eh. So I think sound (the actual music, piano, bass, guitar, strings, percussion,...) is just as important, it sets the vibe for the lyrics.
I think calling thsi album Adrenaline Rush 2007 was a HUGE mistake on his part: its very misleading to say the least. Old school fans of his, like me, are disappointed that he would try and get his fans BACK by using the name....what a cheap marketing ploy.
I have lost alot of respect for Twista due to that.
