Also, there's no way to do a G1 Transformers unless you're making an 80's period piece. The reason they were blocky were not only because they were the first, it's also to do with the vehicles they were originally.

War for Cybertron
This is a modern game, and while it does borrow slightly from the Michael Bay movies, the robots all look distinctive and most of them atleast have faces. I would have found the films more enjoyable had they gone with designs closer to this.

The cartoons were good because all the transformers were visually distinctive from one another and had different personalities.

In the Michael Bay films I can't really tell who's who cause they all look like mecha's from Neon Genesis Evangelion, after getting put through some kind of giant machine shredder and they pasted together haphazardly.

Only a few Transformers like Prime, and Bumblebee really stick out.

Yeah, but that's a video game.

All of them are visually distinctive. It's the camera angles and the action sequences that make them look the same. Find renderings of the MB designs on this website and note that none of them look alike.

Your beef is with how futuristic they look, I understand.

It was Michael Bay's choice to re-imagine the characters, and for the most part they are a modern progression of the original characters. I grew up watching them, too, and my only beef with Bay is he hasn't added any beast wars characters.

It could be incorporated easily by visiting a museum with animatronic puppets and having them change.

It would be much cooler to see a robot cheetah than a fucking Mountain Dew machine.

He is just the director, the movie studios are the ones with the final say so, if he didnt do it they would replace him with someone who would and hes not going to pass directing it and getting paid, shit I woudlnt have.

eh..its a fine line. i mean if you are about the money, which everything pretty much is, then yes. but if you actually give a fuck about what your doing then i see no reason not pass on a film. he didnt need the money most likely, he said fuck it..give me a script and ill run with it.

greed, but fuck it. thats why i'm not rich

I don't know if I want any beast wars characters in the TF movies because then the story lines would be really fucked up considering beast wars characters were waaay after(even tho the entire series is in the past of the g1 transformers because of the time warp they went through). Would be really cool tho.

ps. yes, im a TF nerd. My childhood cartoon and will always be my #1 cartoon of all time.

They really fucked off on Megatron in these movies there is no fucking excuse for that. No one can tell me that Hugo Weaving did a better job than The OG Frank Welker

I watched it last night. I didnt see the 2nd movie but I can already tell that this one was better then that. It was also better then the 1st movie by far.

I wont be super critical of the movie but it had some high and low points but overall was cool to watch and had some funny moments. The chinese guy from Hangover was funny as hell and John Malchovich (sp) was crazy..plus the OG cast was pretty good. The new british chick was also good and Dr. Mc Dreamy was crazy cast ad on lol...

Overall its one of the better moives I've seen this summer
