BURNT CD'S SOUND LIKE SHIT.
actually, burning a cd does not reduce the quality of the music. for the simple fact that its all digital and digitized. You can burn and burn as much as you'd like. it will not reduce your copy's quality.

But if the original copy was bad (low quality) then best believe your copys will sound bad. Also, your burner / cd copier could have settings that are not set correctly.

Thank You

LOL... almost true... if you have a newer CD burner... but a lot of old burners will not match a cds quality... futhermore... you can never match exactly 100% the cd's actual quality... bitrate... etc... with any burner. but the difference while listening to it is barely noticable to the average ear. You can get pretty damn close by copying your cd into a VBR format onto your computer and burning the cd with the VBR MP3's you made and the quality off the finish product will be 99.99% of the original cd quality. And the reasoning partly behind this is that a CD-R cd itself does not provide the same output as an actual pressed CD. but like i said most people who listen to burnt cds hardly know the difference.

16.99 AND 18.99 IS TOO MUCH FOR A CD THAT'S NOT INCLUDING THE SALES TAX. BASICALLY IT AVERAGES TO ABOUT 20 DOLLARS. I THOUGHT THEY WOULD DO SOMETHING LIKE 50% OFF GOING OUT OF BUSINESS SALE. BUT 10% FUCK THAT. I LIKE THE DEAL THEY DID AWHILE BACK WHERE THEY WERE SELLING DOGDAY RECORDS AND BAYSIDE CDS FOR 99 CENTS.

This really sucks. Tower is gone. All the record stores are going away. This is a tremndous blow to the music industry especially all you indie cats out there, this should be a huge blow.

I know that people say "Tower was too expensive" but if you got your CD in there, imagine how good that looked to a major signing people. "Oh real? You guys have your cds in 89 Towers across the country? Through consignment? that's awesome."

And now where can we go for consignment? Rasputins? Dimples? Those aren't nationwide. Try getting into a Coco's, Newburys, or Strawberries on the east coast. Good luck. This is wack. And now a friend of mine could lose her job because she sold to Tower.

What a sad sad day for the music industry. This sucks.

I've been knowing all along that Tower is eventually gonna close; theyve been mentioning the news for a long while...

Where I'm at, there's only one store outta my whole entire city!
...& there used to be about 3 other stores in area about 10 years ago or less, but all the other stores had to close first all cuz of bad business!!!

Well, what do you expect??? Oh well!!! Thats how it's gonna be in the industry, even though I never liked Tower that much all cuz of the "horrendous" highass prices!!! $18.99 is way too expensive for a 16-track cd, & they never have any discount specials whatsoever!!!
Haa!! All the new releases are still over $14.99 while all the other chain stores, they got em for way less than that!! LOL!!! Thats not good business right there!! The good part about it is that they do sell a sh!tload of underground albums, even one that are hard to find elsewhere, but the way they be overpricing shit??? No way Jose!!! By far the cheapest cd Ive seen since I was shopping there was way over $10 bucks, & nothin less than $10, except for singles! LOL!!! No wonder Tower aint gonna last...
ebay>tower any fuckin day!!! ...& secondspin.com...

A CD burned correctly and with a quality burner is a 100% exact copy of the original.

Leopold's, Wherehouse, Sam Goody's, Musicland, Tower... all gone. Only big chains left are Virgin Megastore and FYE. None gonna be in Frisco. It's all about the indies... Streetlight, Rasputin's, Amoeba.

I went to the one in Stonestown yesterday. 10% off all CDs (I think all Towers are starting at that point first) and 30% off 'zines. Not nearly enough to start spending yet. FWIW, the CompUSA store downstairs is also going OOB after it replaced the Good Guys franchise that shut down.

The loss of quality comes from the ripping. Also the fact that MP3s aren't full quality to begin with.

I can definitely tell the difference between a burned copy and a retail CD when it's in a decent sound system...

I meant a CD-to-CD copy.
