What is the last album you actually bought? What (if anything) would make you want to buy an album as opposed to downloading it, even if you knew it was available online to rip?

if it was good music,

1-if they didnt act like they were so rich that it wouldnt matter for me to download it

thats some of the reasons i dont download some artists, cause they are up and coming

2- if they didnt contain 3 hot songs and 15 tracks of bullshit

seriously, there are so many good upcoming musicians out there, and yall cant manage to put on some good ones on those other 15 tracks?

4- drop your shit, i dont like that i hear... album coming december... then december hits, and there is nothing there

9 out of 10 artists probably do this, it is so annoying, and i can personally say, it pisses me off, and it makes me loose hope of listening any new material from the artist

5- shitty sound, why cant some artists pay for some quality recording? shit sounds horrible, its embarrasing to bump in your speakers

6- played out concepts

a rapper being better than me and comparing himself to everything i do,

a rapper being a straight up killa that he kills blah blah like blah blah blah,

shake that (any stupid new word they made up),

i must say that i throw out +95% percent of the music, all because new artists

all rap the same bullshit, trust me, it gets exhausting

oh yeah, may i add that westcoast beefs need to stop, your all drowning the westcoast..

i wanna hear some of my favorite artists being bumped on Bet, and all you guys are worried about is being better than the next guy... then you sabotage the other rapper's chances, then you bolth look funny, and nobody ends up making it big on BET

oh please, somebody do something about those shitty DJ's in LA, those give me a headache, why are thse DJ's so horrible? and why do they "accidentally" play their own music?

like when that Dj pretended he got locked out of his studio while accidentally leaving his song playing

..well, thanks for giving me the chance to complain, all this was written with the most honesty

last album i bought was dj fresh presents shady nate, early morning shift. i bought it bcause i respect the music.

the album i bought before that was devin the dudes waiting to inhale. i bought that because i respect devin as a writer and artist. it was the slowed and chopped version by dj domo.

i bought atleast 12 sd albums within the last 12 months.

i also bought orkos last cd from him at rock the bells to support my sd cats.

its depending on how cheap you make your cd and how available it is online.
cuz you can get dled...

if you make your album available for cheap where i can cop...ill get it to save myself from burning it on cd...if not, there goes ya money.

if there is a good reason for me to buy it other than just music quality because i download cd's every day and dont end up likin almost half the songs on the album
but when dre drops detox (wishful thinking) i will get that at stores just because its going to be legendary
when clyde carson drops theatre music( again with that wishful thinking) i am gunna cop that just becase clyde needs all the support from his fanbas he can get
i copped nickatinas album booty star glawk tawk because nickaitina has kept it real in the underground for decades and he could go mainstream but he would rather but out 100% nickatina shit than settle
but any mainstream rapper ... they gettin jacked and anyone who i am tryin to see if i like them
but i go to shows also so they are seein some money from me... i guess

That's wussup. And that's a pretty tight album. Would you say you bought it more because you enjoy having the actual cover art and unwrapping a cd, or because you respect the artist(s) involved and would like to support what they're doing?

raine, niggas dont drop tight album covers. i used to buy shit cuz of album covers. all the peope have these photodoctored covers. im trying to do covers on some real shit from now on so people know theres been work put into the album...inlets inside the cover and all.but i only wanan work with sick people. if people put more work into the pckage, an album would be more interesting to buy.

aint no focus in the package no more. check out stevie wonders "songs in the key of life" vinyl/ there was lyrics prined, pieces of art, notes from stevie, everything. it was a package.

if all you offerin is the thing thats online for us to download....whats the reason someones gonna buy it, you know...give them a reason to pick it up...give them 10 dollars worth of somethin besides ya album fam.

if it isnt financially possible well then niggas might dl it cuz ya project aint no different for free, than it is for 10 or 15 bucks.

thats the way i think a lot of people feel. there was a long period where downloading became more popular and almost simultaneously the quality of most full length albums greatly declined. it's had an obvious result on consumer's faith in new albums. my question is this (to be more particular), would you even attempt to see if an album is worth buying before you downloaded it? like, let's say you downloaded an album that you thought wouldn't be worth buying and it ended up being the shit! would you then go and purchase it? or say fuck it, i already have it.

and i feel what you sayin about the shows. haha... but the way technology is advancing, soon niggaz will figure out how to download tickets and then we're all fucked!!! haha...

thats my take on it too. i've actually got something really interesting planned for the cover and book of the Raine n Lane n Kokane album and for my solo shit too. i dont know if it will make a huge difference in sales, but i know the people that do buy it will be impressed and feel that they got their moneys worth. and i'll be proud of the project. hopefully people will follow suit and the industry will start taking more pride in their projects.

you got some artwork online i can check out????

I continue to buy albums although it's becoming less. Keep it real..answer me this question. Why pay for something you can get for free?
thats actually not just a question, thats an opinion. i think the only thing that could change your mind would be an artist that just totally excites you and gets under your skin. i dont know how old you are, but i think this newest generation hasn't really had that. 50 cent has probably been the biggest artist of recent, and eminem or jay z right before that. they both had classic songs (probably eminem and jay z excited people more than 50). i think when an artist is so big and rich, niggaz dont even feel bad to steal your shit! haha.. its like takin a pair of draws from walmart. they not gonna go out of business over it. it seems to me that more underground artists get support as far as people buying a cd. but once you reach a certain level, the fans decide you've gotten enough money and cut you off. its almost like people only buy your cd out of pity. once they don't feel bad for you anymore, you're cut off. what about the effort and $$$ that goes into making the music? fuck em? would you go to the bud man's house and steal weed off the table when he aint lookin? or would you say, nah, that aint cool... might not be the best analogy cuz the bud man might shoot you over it if he finds out.. but you get my drift. but what if you heard a story in the news of a rapper shootin a nigga for bootleggin his album?! haha..
