I'm feeling a lot of Chi-town shit, it's just been awhile since i've been into it. Like a few years ago I was going around scooping up every snypaz, psychodrama, twista, speedknot shit that was available. My boy from up there also sent me some mix cds called "Wicked Streets of Chi". Some tight shit! Now that this midwest board is up I'm anxious to hear some more shit from up there. As for KC........
Kansas City rap has like 4 tiers.....
Top tier would include Tech N9ne.
Second tier would include everyone associated with Tech (Kutt, Kaliko, Grant, Lejo, Yung Gunz, etc) and a few other artists who have some legitimate skills (Paul Mussan, RES, Court-Dog)
Third Tier would be your dope game rappers, ie. Rich The Factor, who have a very scattered but strong fan base.
and finallly the Fourth tier.....which is everyone else who is garbage. Through the years I've noticed the power of having Tech or Rich on your album....becuase 95% of these fools who have them on their shit aren't shit when it comes to rapping. They are selling off the names of others pretty much.
But I like what I'm seeing from some up and coming labels like Heat mentioned......Lock-n-Load/5150, 70 Mile, Dedicated Records, Bomb-as Records, World League Records and everyone who's down with Strange Music. These labels have some bonified talent and given the chance they can break into that upper echelon and blow this town up.
Let's not forget about the abundance of producers from the town too!
'03 is gonna be a big year in KC
