i dunno if its me or what but it seems not too many people from KC or whatever liking too much of the chicago/gary sound.....just wondering why if that is so cause its like vice versa to me, i am not way into misery shit besides CCG, Tech, Lejo Dove Dawg, and Lyrikal Warfare cause the rest just sound lowbudget lame raps to me.....

I will agree....alot of it has been low budget, but I think you will find there is a new breed of rappers coming out of KC between Strange, 70 Mile, and 5150 and the people around these labels that are putting much more time and effort into making quality recordings. Just wait...the game is changing in KC.

And I also do like Chi music.

I'm feeling a lot of Chi-town shit, it's just been awhile since i've been into it. Like a few years ago I was going around scooping up every snypaz, psychodrama, twista, speedknot shit that was available. My boy from up there also sent me some mix cds called "Wicked Streets of Chi". Some tight shit! Now that this midwest board is up I'm anxious to hear some more shit from up there. As for KC........

Kansas City rap has like 4 tiers.....

Top tier would include Tech N9ne.

Second tier would include everyone associated with Tech (Kutt, Kaliko, Grant, Lejo, Yung Gunz, etc) and a few other artists who have some legitimate skills (Paul Mussan, RES, Court-Dog)

Third Tier would be your dope game rappers, ie. Rich The Factor, who have a very scattered but strong fan base.

and finallly the Fourth tier.....which is everyone else who is garbage. Through the years I've noticed the power of having Tech or Rich on your album....becuase 95% of these fools who have them on their shit aren't shit when it comes to rapping. They are selling off the names of others pretty much.

But I like what I'm seeing from some up and coming labels like Heat mentioned......Lock-n-Load/5150, 70 Mile, Dedicated Records, Bomb-as Records, World League Records and everyone who's down with Strange Music. These labels have some bonified talent and given the chance they can break into that upper echelon and blow this town up.

Let's not forget about the abundance of producers from the town too!

'03 is gonna be a big year in KC

u wanna hear some classic STL music pickup the Bullot Proof Records compilation called "Ghetto Insanity" might be hard to find but its a good album. Also get that Los album "NIGGA ON THE EDGE".

OUT OF ORDER Album was tight also but it didnt sell.

This is dj i noe was tight with Abyss he said the deal they had fell thru because the group sent the Record Label the album and they sent that shit back, so their deal is over with.

Da Hol 9 almost had a major deal but with a Major Company but dey fucked dem over because of missed meeting.

Real spittin homie, When I first heard his shit back in '95 he was alot tighter than he is now. He had a raw street sound, but like he said hes a "slacker" and homie slacked up a bit from then to now. He still gets play from me but hes been better.
