^ right. and if you cant afford the $25-$30 ticket to get in, quit putting in hours as a volunteer and pick up some time at paying job.

EDIT- this is probably why they are aiming at a younger crowd to promote...they arent as demanding.

i feel what your sayin about it but its a "free" gig you know that goin in, your there hustlin for them supportin the cause. street teams arent about recognition, you do it for the love of the artist/label, they shouldnt have to pay your way in to the venue your ass needs to be outside gettin people into it! your already on the team! they need new recruits to keep it movin

What you do isn't like a job. You don't have to get up at a certain time to do it. And as such, you're not gonna get paid to do something when you want to do it. If you're doing a job that you know you're not getting paid for, and you know there are no side rewards, and you're bitching about it like you deserve something other than what you originally settled for, then you apparently need to find another line of work. Perhaps one that pays.

In a sense, you're right, but where the record label is saving money by having a street team and not having to pay for label reps to do this, then giving a free ticket to someone promoting a few albums and a few shows a year shouldn't be a problem.

I've never expected that outcome, but I don't think I've ever paid for a ticket to a Tech show.

If you a real street teamer like a few KC people I know who were being sent from KC all over the Midwest in the trucks I would expect them to get paid just like a real job. There seems to be a lot more to the strange street team than just getting some flyers in the mail. The ones in the KC area were sent out to certain areas at specific times from what i was told and they were driving around to cities infront of the tour making sure the cities were plastered in promo materials before the show that was there.

Just some info I was told from an informant.

if Strange had any sense about them they'd go through a company like fancorps.com where everything is tracked. Great for the label/artists and great for the street teamers, because you upload proof of your street teaming (pictures, web snapshots for internet promoting, etc), and you get stuff in return like CD singles, posters, discounts to shows, etc... I do alot for a couple bands on there and I've got a ton of shit, just for a few hours a month of doin what I do....

but Strange has no sense about them..

so tell me again sinje, why are you surprised you get no love?

fuck demanding u put in any time doin work u should be compensated
so did they come to you begging them to promote? or did u want to help them out? quit ur crying and do what ever you wanna do. streetteaming is suppose to be a way of getting the music you like out there so more pick it up therefore getting better quality out ur artist even if it's in the little ways. if you feel u done ur part and now need to be compensated then you should hit the road cause there will be 3 more ppl in ur area willing to do it for free and prolly better than you.

Yeah sinje streetteaming can be time consuming, but clearly if your not feeling it then don't do it. I street teamed in chicago for about 6 or 8 months or something, and just didn't have the time no more. It's something you do in your SPARE time to help out, not something you do to expect something in return for. While free tickets would be NICE, it shouldn't be expected.

Buddy, you need to get into the marketing BUSINESS before you start receiving COMPENSATION. This "Here, take this 5x7 card with album info on it and make it disappear" shit has no compensatory outcome.
