Here is my take on Monday:
WWE: Of course it was great to see Bret back on Raw, solid segments...just shows you how great that generation was, Bret's promo came off sincere and unscripted, not like todays guys. Nothing else on the show really interested me but I did like that Evan Bourne challenged Sheamus, something new right there.
TNA: A mix of WCW reunion, and great wrestling. TO me there were 3 solid wrestling matches, Hamada/Kong vs. Sarita/Taylor, Desmond vs Pope, and Angle vs Styles. The rest were kinda rushed, especially the X Division steel asylum, wtf??? And Tara lost the title, makes no sense. Nice ass though. I understand theres not gonna be alot of wrestling cause this is the first Hogan run show and they need to establish new storylines, so its gonna be mostly promo segments.
It was nostalgic to see all the faces like Hall and X-Pac, big surprises seeing Jeff Hardy and Flair there.
Nasty Boyz, Val Venis, Orlando Jordan = Not needed at ALL. There are already alot of guys on the TNA roster that dont get their TV time every week, those are filler guys that NO ONE is gonna tune in to see. Though i do wanna see Nasty Boys vs Dudleys at least once, dunno if the fat one can even go anymore.
The way I see it....all those familiar faces were brought in to reel in the old audience of wrestling. Think about it, alot of people stopped watching once WCW went under, and WWE's rating is way lower than it used to be. Hopefully theyre just using these old faces to interest old fans to come back and look at the TNA product, then they can focus on the homegrown talent.
Coming off Impact I'm worried they might bury Desmond Wolf, he needs to WIN his next match or its gonna look like trouble. And he needs to be the next guy to challenge AJ for the title after Angle.
Im also glad they are pushing Pope, that guy has the most charisma in all of TNA. I think he could be a big star like The Rock.
So its all pretty much wait and see....this was only the first episode where they are re-doing all the angles and things, now we gotta see what road they take with things and whos actually sticking around that showed up on Impact.
TNA definitely got me excited an curious to see what they do next. In WWE, Bret Hart is the only thing interesting right now.
