I have been reading alot of things in here and I had a little time this morning with nothing to do so I thought I would post some thoughts for those of you that care to read.

1994 is when I became a Tech N9ne fan, I am Kansas City bred, but I have been all over this country and even though the beats and sound were similar to other things I had heard, the cat had a flow and mic presence that were simply undeniable. When you look at the greats in the rap game and what sets them apart there is one common denominator. The sound of their voice. Tech had an unmistakable unique voice and delivery. You would never confuse him with anyone else. When you hear EM, you know, when you hear Pac, you know, and so on and so forth. There has been an issue that has been debated amongst Tech N9ne fans since the beginning.

Tech's content.

As early as 95-96 I heard people complaining about his content. All I can really say to that is that you really have to know and have an appreciation for the man, and where his music really comes from.

The people that like his dark side don't like the light side, and vice versa, the people who loved anghellic hated killer, the people that love solo albums hate the collabo albums, the people that love the features like scarface, hate when Tech does songs with groups like twizted.

The cat really does write his life and because of that he is versatile. I honestly believe that if Tech spent the next 6 months in mexico that half the next album would be in spanish. Now we can either love that or hate it but it would be his most recent experience and would probably fill the pages of his notebook. I think the reason we all have so much to debate about him as an artist is because everytime he tries to please one group of us, he pisses the other group off.

Case in point: The guy that does video reviews that Killer sucked and didn't know who Shawnna or Scarface was. He kept saying that Tech needed to go back to doing his "Sick" shit. He was going back to doing his more "black" shit. Then he did K.O.D. and that guy gave it a great review. Some others hated it.

I remember when people were complaining that he wasn't giving Kansas City and its local artists the shine it deserves, now for the last three years he has put out a collabos album that has given his comrades atleast a bit of national shine, that they might never get. I don't think that anyone expects the guys that feature on collabos albums to give the quality of verses you would get from guys that charge 10K a verse, and it is what it is. If you want to question the quality of Tech's verses well that is just opinion, the guy has wrote alot and worked as hard as ANYONE in hip hop for the last 10 years and his verses are generally as complex as you will find.

Tech has set the bar high, and it is tough to please everyone, including himself. I take the albums for what they are, some a little different and some extremely different. Since of alot of you don't like this album I am sure XXL will love it.

So someone is pleased.

i think ull find that MOST of tech n9nes fans want the same thing..its the tiny little amount who want this "gangsta fruit loop sound"... most of us want albums like Anghellic,AP,KOD... not sickology and mixed plates.. and if he wants to keep getting bigger and bigger he can either turn his music into shit (aka mainstream) or follow the majority of his career and stop changing..

i understand that he doesnt want to get depressed and stuff but im sure theres a place thats neutral so the fans can keep getting the music they love the most... it doesnt have to be dark its just godda be hard unique not get drunk get drunk fuck a hoe fuck a hoe throw a fruity loop under it like 90% of other rappers do..

his fans just want him to do what has made him so great..and not change.. his last 3 mixtapes..2 of them sucked badly... KOD keeps up hoping...

will tech let us down with his next cd ? i hope not!!

I just think you have to remember who Tech really is. A black youth that grew up on popular rap music. So that IS a part of him. He obviously makes these albums to appeal to a different demographic. He isn't stupid he knows that certain albums don't appeal to his "anghellic" fans. But you have to constantly grow your fanbase. Don't forget your hardcore fans but you have to evolve and grow. Its smart.

not if he loses all the fans that made him who he is today because they all love the NORMAL tech n9ne
Nobody knows the "normal" Tech N9ne more than Tech N9ne.

Anhellic was the first album of his to receive large scale exposure and is "normal" only in that respect. It was dark because of where he was at that point in his life. It's no more "normal" than CBTS or The Worst, which sound quite different from Anghellic...again, a reflection of where he was at at that point in his life.

That said...I'm pretty uninterested in listening to THIS aspect of Tech because, simply put, I can't relate (and in some cases simply do not like the sound of the songs)

exactly....he was alienated by the people he thought would love him for his flow....they called him a devil worshipper.....where as another group of people embraced him for what he was....now tech himself is alienating the same group that made him who he is today to appeal to a market that turned backs to him many years ago

its odd how it worked out.....

i can relate to drinking/partying like a madman/ kickin it with the chicks....but when the music is garbage...i dont care to relate

most of the new albums coming out have that real toned down/ignorant feel to them which i just dont enjoy

I've said this a couple times before, but its not about the content really, atleast for me anyways. I prefer the "dark" music, but I love his party music too. Everready had awesome party songs. MLK & Sickology were dope ass albums. The reason the GMP is getting bashed is because of the quality of the music. There were only like 5 or 6 songs about bitches and shit, & some of them were decent. But its the generic ass beats he chose, the bad hooks, the very average features, & the ZERO creativity on this album that makes it his worst. There are no "great" songs on here, its just an average, half-assed album.

Theres a few problems with this. for one, you think that theres a neutral place for the fans...really? Do you only have one mood? im sure there are times where you are angry, sad, happy, and times when your in the mood to get drunk and fuck bitches. there is no neutral.

For two, tech n9ne does not do mixtapes

For Three, there is no us. you seem to be speaking for yourself there, bud.

Well these fans that "made him".. if they're that quick to just up and quit on him are fickle as shit and should stop worrying. He gave you want you wanted in K.O.D and he's already planning another solo which should be up to par with his better material. If it ends up sucking, then maybe push the panic button.Until then.. lighten up.

The fact that many of you are saying this is the first album you wont buy should be a testament to him putting out generally good work. One bad album out of 9, I think that's a pretty good ratio.

My personal opinion is that.. yes this album is lackluster. It's still listenable for me.. but i don't have exceedingly high standards. The overly mainstream sound doesn't bother me because I listen to mainstream music.

The guest features aren't jaw dropping, but most of them are at least decent. The beats aren't necessarily bad, just fit a certain sound that isn't exactly what I'd consider fitting of Tech N9ne.. and the hooks are all borderline bad. The main problem with the album is the repetitive content. Still to me it's a 3 out of 5.. and will get some spins from me. If it's $9.99 at Best Buy, i'll still buy it because I'd rather not have a missing entry in my Tech CD collection.

i only read the 1st post but heres my 2 cents.

tech changed, i havent really liked KOD or Killer and mixed plate wasnt anything special. i love AP and AG but i also love ER, and that was all party music, no depressed dark shit. so it isnt that tech is just making "light" music, its because he changed his music to sound too mainstream, and honestly he isnt that good at it.
