Boo Boo your bass sounds like its for some miami bass song, but i know what you was trying to do as far as sustaining notes, and the problem i have with reverb is you can hear it...It used to be good effects you couldnt hear the effect
( rules..hahah) and with your sounds being more digital it makes it sound even thinner and cold...the drums aint bad but they just dont sit well with the bassline..ive read that when you mixing the kick adds punch to the bass melody.. and they are almost one in the same as far as levels..kik maybe just a smidge louder, then again aint no rules.. the beat is great besides the bassline though, im saying do what comes natural to you...forcing something to be funky doesnt always work, experiment because you know your bassline melodies sometimes need a lil something..so try making different style beats that you do not normally and you may find the piece ya missing or need work on...its in there just gotta tap into it...
here are some songs from a firend my boys produced these songs

Yeah, I know what your saying. Bassline & Kick do go hand n hand, my homie who's a drummer & guitarist was the first person who told me that. I think it's more of a mixing issue with me, I just ain't good at that, yet. I probably need to fuck with Sidechain compression or something so the bass/kick don't conflict. I just haven't found a perfect formula when it comes to FX and mixing, I just do whatever I think sounds good. I know what your saying about the reverb, but I was trying to go for more of an effect on that snare/clap hit. I wasn't neccesarily trying to create an environment for my beat to sit in, just a desired effect on that one snare/clap hit.

As far as your friend's songs, it obviously sounds like he REALLY knows what he's doing. Those are some nice songs. I am in no way close to that level. My style is a little different though when it comes to RnB beats, my sound is more borderline Rap IMO. I say my shit sounds a bit more trendy and newschool.

Dont tell me you wear them hats with all them funky colors and letters with the sweatshirts to match...no...NOOOOOOOOOOO
FUCK NO, lol. I was making fun of that actually in one of my previous posts in this thread because I was trying to tell you to make a Club beat for the fuck of it. I want to hear how you would do one. lol

I don't own any clothes of that nature. I don't even care for buying hats anymore because of that shit. I can't find a plain SD hat and I don't really care for the new logo, I like the White S and Orange D. I don't want one with the city's landscape on it, big ass extra huge FLAT bill and other repeated patterns going across it. lol Ain't my style, too Hyphy-ish. haha

I was just trying to say my RnB-ish sounding beats come out sounding more newschool. A little faster, more synthy, borderline Rap like I said. Your homie's sounds more tradional, 90's style, more acoustic, more jazzy I guess.

you should hear there funk funk beats..battlecat gives it up to them and he does that with very few...they make dre type beats..kenny kingpin say they fuckin with dre....and i think they are super hot on the samples..but they been making beats and producin since the 80's back then you had to really want to produce to shell out $4,000 for 1 piece of equipment, they done owned almost every keyboard, sampler, from 2 inch tape in the killafornia days to adats, digital recorders to pro-tools hd..
