i agree with mannish about not being worried that bayless didnt get an assist, he got his shot, drove wherever he wanted, and he can shoot freethrows which i know excited the hell out of nate, and the rest of us. and also yes, koponen for sergio for sure

I'm not worried about that at all. He had about 5 or 6 passes that would have been assists if the summer league roster wasnt garbage as possible. JB is the pg of the future in Portland. The best since Terry Porter. Plus imagine how perfect he is next to a guy like Roy. A playmaking 2 gaurd with a scoring pg makes a perfect back court. and besides that, I think Bayless is a better pg than he gets credit for.
which is why i explained that there was no other player on the roster that had the talent of bayless. i know what u tryna say, and i completely agree. bayless HAS to be aggressive and look for his own shot now cuz no one else on the roster is good. in a real NBA game, we got roy/LMA/oden etc. for bayless to kick it out to. not worried at all.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Bayless = Monta Ellis?

So, we just had a baby girl which is very exciting, but also why the blog has dried up for the past week (and will remain so for another week, I would venture). But between changing diapers and swaddling blankets, I wanted to note that my Blazers are looking very smart indeed for their draft day moves that brought Jerryd Bayless to the Rose City. Of course, everyone pretty much assumed that anyway since Pritchard is a draft witch and I pretty much assumed it since I had Bayless #3 on my list of available prospects in this year's draft ... but it's nice to see some proof. Bayless is destroying the Vegas Summer League right now and looking like Monta Ellis with better defensive awareness and effort. He has the same limited "pure point guard" instincts, but I'm just not concerned about that with Brandon Roy (and Rudy Fernandez) on the floor. I mean, if Portland could have snagged Ellis this summer and paid up the rate of the #11 pick in the draft, how do you think the rest of the league would have felt? I suspect we might be about to find out.

^^^I disagree with the "limited pure point guard ability" comment. If you've been watching summer league, you can see that he does a fine job of running the point (when Petko isn't). He has very good handles and makes some very good passes. Its just that the concrete handed butter fingery bigs on the summer league roster dont know what to do with them. The only legit threat he can pass to is Petko, but Petko is likely to just pass it to somebody else. Bayless is gonna prove a lot of people wrong.

yeah, I think having an inferior team on the summer league is effecting the way he looks.... I mean NO one is gettin assists in summer league.... I'm not worried at all about bayless being able to run the point

Bayless just got added to the Olympic Select team along with K Love and Robin Lopez. he wont be playing in the last summer league game for us. No need to watch now...
