wussup mannish, lets talk blazers

james jones will seriously by missed..... he was one of the guys that made that 13 game winning streak possible..... hopefully martell can adapt, but martell I still see as the starter, because travis is seems more comfortable off the bench.... I guess we got rudy off the bench who can pull the 3. or so we hope

I think Jones being gone wont hurt too much. Martel improves every year and Outlaw has been staying in shape this off season so he doesnt come back and have to play himself into shape like he did last year. we are also getting 3 brand new offensive threats in Oden, Fernandez and Bayless. I know summer league doesnt usually mean much, but what did you think of Bayless first SL game? 28 pts and 4 rebs. He shoulda had around 6-7 asts , he got guys the ball in good positions to score but our summer league roster overall is a bunch of scrubs. I was also pretty impressed by Petteri Kopponen. I wouldn't be mad if we just cut Sergio and gane Petko his minutes. If we don't get him signed this year he's gonna play in Europe for a while.

watched the summer league game against the wiz today annnnnnnd heres my input on a few players:

bayless- he does have that "killer" instinct as he was tryna take it to the hole every time he had the ball. he shot like 22 or 23 ft's and i know its just summer league but its good to see that hes not afraid to take it in everytime. very aggressive plays. dude really IS quick. hes quick as fuck. nick young was guardin him and bayless was blowin him by almost every time. one of the negatives of bayless from reports say that the release of shot is slow, and imma have to agree. it does look like he can shoot it a lil quicker. his ball handling skill is mediocre at best but the kid is only 19. he has a lot of room to improve. had no assists in the game which worries me a lil but then again there really wasnt another player on the roster that was able to attack or do what bayless was doin tonight. its just 1 game of SUMMER LEAGUE but so far i like what i see in the kid.

koponen- rather quick for a 6'4 pg. his perimeter game is good for a young kid. some of the plays reminded me of sergio with the wild passes etc. the kid can play but def has a lot of room to improve. i dunno if he'd be our #15 roster spot as he'd just sit on the bench all year, and prolly in the D league. was killin the 3's and he made a key 3 late in the game.

nicolas batum- hes hella long. he was everywhere wit the defense but still very raw. his jump shot looks weird and he was way off today. he needs to work on his shot selection. he wasnt being aggressive at all, and just cherry pickin a lot of the plays on offense. it might be due to being nervous but so far not really impressed. it sucks cuz he got hurt in the game and ended up leavin. i dunno how serious it is or what the injury is so i cant really say much on that.

the rest on the players was just the same ol same ol. notin special n no one else really impressed me. i guess ill just mention this dude josh davis. he was a nice hustle type player, and did all the dirty work underneath. had a couple nice plays.

edit: bayless D was decent, and he made a couple nice plays on D. made nick young commit a charge, and had a steal. Koponen's d was solid as well. nothing special but did what he had to do.

just got done watchin the game on the DVR....Jerryd Bayless is quite fearless in his game and is really aggressive. He reminds me so much of jarret jack but potentially smarter when running a team and passing. If he just doesn't get caught going TOO crazy gettin to the basket and makin a wild pass(like jack does) then he should fit perfectly, seeming after this game he likes to finish at the basket more then pass..

and Koponen looks like he could be solid if he keeps making improvements from year to year, I'm not ready to say he's as NBA ready as bayless but he's damn sure close and could prove it in these next 4 games

I'm not worried about that at all. He had about 5 or 6 passes that would have been assists if the summer league roster wasnt garbage as possible. JB is the pg of the future in Portland. The best since Terry Porter. Plus imagine how perfect he is next to a guy like Roy. A playmaking 2 gaurd with a scoring pg makes a perfect back court. and besides that, I think Bayless is a better pg than he gets credit for.
