bro people nowadays forget where food comes from. I think its important to know, to be educated about the food industry. This is gonna sound like a hick thing to say, but more people should take a trip out to the country and spend a day with a farmer. Whether its a chicken, cow, pig, or spinach, corn or potato farmer. I think most would appreciate their food more, seeing where it comes from, and how much work it is to get it to them.

Food is more about an experience for me. Not like every meal. I eat tuna sandwiches too, but usually during the day when I'm working. I have to say though, theres not too many things more enjoyable than a great meal, shared with great people, in a great ambiance....

Yea, that is a good book, excellent read man....peep his TV show as well..

Fuckin right!

Me and a friend had this conversation over text recently, and I said something similar.

I know you won't understand the context in which we were discussing, but the point I have in there is much the same as yours.

Those places have "the touch" like the food is real and not just made specifically for eating. That's what a lot of people don't understand about food. Not all food is meant to be simply eaten. There has to be that element of experience for... me to really remember it.

Sometimes you just experience one thing on a solid menu, whereas sometimes you just want BBQ and that's what will curtail your hunger, you know? Rib Crib is great, and I enjoy the food, but it's not always an experience in dining cuisine... it's just BBQ done well on a retail scale.

There's a lady here in Omaha and she opened a restaurant as kind of a defiant way of showing the place she use to work for how to cook real food, and I would be lying outright if I told you her food, just because it was in the little town of Omaha isn't an experience.

It's an old gas station that's just being used for the fellowship and roof over your head while you eat aspect of owning a restaurant, but her food has heart! It's GREAT food that is memorable because it's familiar to a dish that was cooked by a loved one, or done just right.

Yes, they were REALLY fresh vegetables...lol.

A lot of people who can't cook (mostly guys) think it's gay when another dude can get down in the kitchen.

I don't always do it up...I love my In 'N Out burger every now and then, a good bbq, some top ramen, and even a nice TV dinner. But there is one thing I've discovered...a good home cooked meal isn't expensive, I always feel great when I make something (creativity), and I physically feel well the entire night and following day.

So when somebody calls me gay, I just tell 'em it's an art form that promotes health. Good food brings people together and allows for good conversation. When it's fresh, it allows us to experience tastes we aren't used to because we've grown up with fast shit.

Also, I've never met a woman who would call me a fag for hooking up a nice dish. In fact, they usually end up in my bed without clothes on.

it's funny you guys bring this up. thanks for the props by the way on the stew. i'm surprised so many people responded positively and it wasn't even taken on my digi cam.

we actually hooked up our direct t.v. installer he was cambodian and we chopped it up over the food freshly cooked. he loved it and scarfed it down like he hasn't ate all day and it barely hit lunch time lol.

he even wanted some pickled green chilies with it from the asian store. talked about his culture and our culture.

it's great to share and celebrate with cause food is universal and how we eat it is different in every culture.

thats why i got props for peeps that like to try different food. i have a friend who's dad taught him to try something anything at least once food wise and he gets props for showing he's not afraid or ignorant about things because he's not used to it.

i can't always say that for myself but it's a very respectful thing when they eat something they aren't used to.

Yup...food knocks down barriers and crosses borders.

I'll eat ANYTHING at least once. My pops and brother aren't like that, so I must get it from my mom. So far, I can use less than five fingers to name foods I don't fuck with.

that's what's up bro

my pops went to culinary school for a little while, and he's been cooking his whole life

anyone who says cooking is for females is fucking retarded

my pops cooking put a roof over my head and food on the table (well, obviously... but you know what I mean) so I've never looked at cooking as just a female thing at all

but yeah, I learned a lot from my dad, he puts it down for real in the kitchen... actually at my parents house now to watch the Super Bowl, and pops is gonna throw down on some of his famous chicken wings... can't wait

For as much stress is put on machismo in Mexican culture, I've known countless dudes that get down in the kitchen and a lot of times can cook better than the wife. Anyone saying that cooking is gay is plain stupid. I'm not the best cook in the world but who doesn't like to eat? I got married at 25 and wasn't anyone cooking for me for the most part, so what am I gonna do? Eat fast food all the time instead?
