It's that time of the year.

Eric Weddle the highest paid safety in the history of the NFL??? WOW. One argument that can be made though, is there really aren't any quality safeties out there who could replace him, AND other teams were interested in him. I still dont like it.

I LOVE the Takeo Spikes and Bob Sanders signings though!

What's up with jackson bro?
Franchised tagged him and he's going to sign the tender tomorrow. It will be his last year because he's going to be asking for TONS of money next year now that the Jets signed Santonio Holmes for $10 Mill a year. But he's going to sign tomorrow and be in camp on time so Im happy.

Eric Weddle is a damn good safety. He isn't flashy and isn't going to get the publicity like an Ed Reed, but he is quickly becoming one of the better safeties in the league. I don't worry about that contract though, more than likely it'll be reworked in a few years or he'll be released. I doubt he plays out that contract. I love the attention to the defense, bob sanders and takeo spikes will be teachers if anything.

I'm not denying the fact that he's a good safety, but to be the highest paid Safety in the history of the NFL? No way. He's getting $19 Mill GUARANTEED and $14 Mill his FIRST year. So even if we did cut him after a year, he still made $14 Mill in one year. That's without a doubt overpaying him. I think we should have definitely signed him, just not at that price. I'm sure we could have brought him back for a cheaper price. He's just one of AJ's golden boys. Oh well, what's done is done.

Can't wait for pre-season.

i agree...40 mil? hes good but not at that price...apparently eric said 8-9 teams were looking at him so guess the 40 mil/19 guaranteed was a competitive price to retain him here in SD...

sanders and spikes.both good pickups...im ready can the season start this sunday? lol

Yeah, I like Weddle so hopefully he proves he's worth it.

Man I'm sad to see Malcom Floyd go, which looks like is going to be the case. But one thing about him, is he is always injured. But I'm going to miss him going up and grabbing those deep passes from Rivers.

That's one good thing about the lockout, it's like Christmas right now with all these transactions going on around the league. And first pre-season game in exactly 2 weeks? FUCK YEAH!

Yeah ill miss floyd when he leave. His injuries was a problem but when he's healthy he's a beast! I want Crayton to do his thang and make a comeback(fantasy sleeper).

The Seahawks are now pursuing free agent OLB Travis LaBoy.
The Sacramento Bee reports that the Chargers are still in the lead. Seattle has apparently passed the 49ers in terms of interest, but they're still running second to San Diego. LaBoy's best fit would be with old pal Greg Manusky.

2 quotes from Kevin Acee:

"It's a new era. Greg Manusky is killing 'em too. Norv Turner imported fire."

"New special teams coach Rich Bisaccia is lighting 'em up. Players already seen things are gonna be different."
