The only parts that bugged me were the owl parts and the hypnosis parts, even though it was easy to tell they were staged. I thought it was a pretty good attempt. The whole God thing was over the top, though. Also, big plot hole I noticed. If, after the guy had supposedly seen the UFO over her house, what did the fucking emergency call sound like?
"Uhh, something just flew over her house!!! It's taking them!!!"
Later on...
"Where's your daughter? Don't give me that alien bullshit!! Our guy just said something was flying over your house and abducted someone. NOW WHERE IS SHE??"

Modern folklore of both aliens and demons is different, though.
People who have experienced aliens say they are cold and calculating when they perform tests or harass people. Some have even "met" benevolent aliens. They don't come off speaking a mostly familiar language.
Whereas people who have been visited by what they think of as demons have been controlled and consumed by fear and tormented maniacally. So as far as I know "demons" are pretty true to the same type of attitude. They claim to be God, speak in a dead language, and use the emotion of fear to gain access to someone.
It's a total conspiracy theory if you've never had the experience of witnessing a demon trying to stir you up or and alien trying to abduct you. One of which I have no experience with.

the ancient alien/astronaut theory (which this movie is obviously taking from) is about aliens coming to earth around the time of the first civilizations (like sumeria) and exchanging knowledge with the early humans. The humans would likely think of them as gods or demons or whatever they would call them back then and base their religious beliefs. if this happened it could explain all the various religions based on beings that come from the sky.
i think it would have been a better movie if they hadnt done all that fake original footage side by side with re-enactments. the could have just got rid of that hideous pale decaying lookng bitch and just used Milla for the whole movie.
