The Raiders will be in the playoffs next year and Palmer will lead us there.

But we have to fix the Defense first. No doubt about it. Bresnahan must go.

Raiders interviewing GM candidate today

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 at 11:21 am in Oakland Raiders.

Raiders owner Mark Davis isn’t wasting any time in finding a general manager to fill the power vacuum created by the death of his father in early October.
Davis reportedly intends to interview Green Bay Packers director of football operations Reggie McKenzie today, according to the Chicago Sun Times.
McKenzie was hired by Ron Wolf in 1994 as a pro scout, and he has worked his way up over the past 18 years. Wolf once worked for the Raiders under Al Davis. He is advising Mark Davis on football matters in the interim, along with former Raiders coach John Madden and former Raiders personnel man Ken Herock.
Late last year, Wolf issued a glowing recommendation of McKenzie as a general manager candidate.
“Reggie’s a tremendous evaluator,” McKenzie told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “He can tell you who can play and who can’t play. That’s what it’s all about. Some can write reports but can’t tell you who can play. Whatever that is, he has that. He has a feel.”
McKenzie, 48, played in the NFL for seven seasons, including four for the Los Angeles Raiders from 1985-88.
League rules stipulate that McKenzie can be interviewed but not hired until the Packers are done playing this season. Therefore, Davis might have to wait until early February before hiring McKenzie, who is considered the front-runner.
There also is speculation that McKenzie might bring along Eliot Wolf, Ron Wolf’s son, if he gets hired by the Raiders. The younger Wolf is an assistant director of player personnel for the Packers.
Raiders coach Hue Jackson said in a radio interview Tuesday night that he is looking forward to working with a general manager who thinks along his lines.
“I really want to work on conjunction with someone who shares the same vision,” Jackson said on NFL Sirius radio. “I know whoever Mark decides to bring in to the organization will have the same vision because my vision is winning, and winning championships.
“I don’t have any other vision or any other ego. My whole thing is about winning and whatever it takes to win. Do I want to make sure I have an idea and have some input on who I put on a team? Yes. But at the end of the day, if the chain of command starts with the GM when it comes to those decisions, I’m fine with that, too.”
A Raiders official told beat writer Jerry McDonald earlier this morning that he didn’t have any comment on the Sun Times report.

I find this funny, since it's complete bullshit. mcfadden would not have made it back in time to play against the steelers in the playoffs. you don't just jump right back in after being out over 2 months. he would have needed a week at the very least, just to get back into game shape. huff and taiwan practiced all week and both were held out of the SD game. yet dmc is gonna jump right back into practice for a playoff game, yeah right. most he would have done is worked on off to the side with a trainer.

McFadden would have practiced today

By Steve Corkran
Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 at 11:25 am in Oakland Raiders.

Running back Darren McFadden missed the Raiders final nine regular-season games with a midfoot sprain. As it turns out, he would have practiced today for the first time since Oct. 23 if the Raiders would have made the playoffs.
That’s the word from coach Hue Jackson, anyway.
“He was going to be out there practicing with us this Wednesday,” Jackson said in a radio interview Tuesday night on NFL Sirius. “That’s what’s so disappointing. We were about to get totally healthy at the right time. I know he was going to give it a go. He felt much better than what he had been feeling, and we really felt comfortable that he was mending properly and ready to get back out there with the guys.”
If nothing else, that bodes well for McFadden being healthy enough to practice once offseason workouts begin.
McFadden did not practice with his teammates once after he suffered his injury against the Kansas City Chiefs. Michael Bush filled the void and rushed for 977 yards.

I think hue has to go. any new gm that's worth bringing in, is going to want their own people and they should. why would they want a coach leftover from the old regime? someone they didn't hire and might not be on board with the what they have planned. this situation is a little different, since al was the one that hired hue and maybe mark davis will say he's the only one that can't be fired. I think the new gm should be able to do anything they want though, otherwise what's the point?

Na, not ready to let Hue go yet (and you know how I am when it comes to firing head coaches, just like Al Davis). But I wish he would have had more say in this sorry as defense though. He should've stepped up and told Bresnahan to quit calling them plays that required McClain to cover receivers deep down in the middle of the field.

One more year out of the playoffs and the seat will warm up or began to get hot.

I know injuries are a part of the game but McFadden is a very slow healer. You would think he would have at least given it a shot to play considering the playoffs were on the line. Phillip Rivers played on a torn ACL. I just find it funny that there was no timetable for his return and back when McFadden got injured, Hue said he would be back before the season ended.

but is it really fair to the new gm to be stuck with a coach he didn't hire? it's the same situation that hue was in the with bresnahan. if your gm can't choose his own head coach, then what's the point of having a gm?

hue's rookie year, was a bust. Why not give him a shot next year? If hes still the head coach next year, he will be on the chopping block. First blown lead, with mistakes with clock management, see ya later.

Who knows, maybe the new gm will like the way hue is with the players, and hire him on as a hc, or a qb coach. I dont think weve seen the last of hue jackson.

Report: Raiders to interview Packers exec Reggie McKenzie for GM spot on Wednesday

By Jerry McDonald

Green Bay Packers director of football operations Reggie McKenzie is scheduled to meet Wednesday with the Raiders to discuss a front office position, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
A Raiders official reached Wednesday morning declined comment.
McKenzie, 48, has worked in the Green Bay personnel department for 19 years, having been promoted to his current post after previously serving as director of pro personnel.
His seven-year career as a player included a stint with the Los Angeles Raiders from 1985-88.
According to NFL rules, McKenzie is available to be interviewed but cannot be hired until the Packers' season is concluded. The Chicago Bears, St. Louis Rams and Indianapolis Colts are also without general managers and could be interested in talking to McKenzie.
McKenzie comes with the seal of approval from former Raiders executive Ron Wolf.
``Reggie's a tremendous evaluator,'' Wolf told the Milwaukee-Journal Sentinel in November. ``He can tell you who can play and who can't play. That's what it's all about. Some can write reports but can't tell you who can play.''
A recent NFL Network report said the Raiders were interested in both McKenzie and Eliot Wolf, the Packers' assistant director of player personnel and the son of Ron Wolf.
Eliot Wolf, 29, has worked in the Packers' personnel department since 2004.

Adam Schefter writes Raiders are planning to hire McKenzie as GM. Great move by the Raiders. First move by McKenzie should be to fire Hue Jackson's 3rd person talking, pedicure having, irish coffee sippin ass. I personally don't think Hue is nearly as good of a head coach as people think he is. OC yes, HC NOPE. If I were the Raiders i'd steal Vic Fangio away from the 49ers.

you're right ... Palmer is a great QB ...

next year instead of 13 TD's and 16 INT's ...he'll throw for 15 TD's and 25 INT's ...

The Raiders should have gotten Jeff Garcia instead of Palmer ..

Jeff Garcia can throw better and doesn't throw that many INT's ..

but hey ..... Palmer lead you guys to a 8-8 record..lol and 16 INT's ..
