Somebody should slap Chree for saying Benson is better than Bush "by far", I guess this idiot didn't see how Bush was running through Tampa Bay for over a buck 50, behind that terrible offensive line of ours (as Chree likes to call our offensive line)

I like the idea of having a veteran back-up with recent game experience. That way if need be he can get in there and be able to make things happen.

lol @ benson being better than bush.
Benson should have better stats because he's been in the league PLAYING longer (remember bush sat out his entire rookie season) and wasn't he a starter for both the bears & the bungles? and hasn't he not done shit except get a bui, boating under the influence?
The team temporarily made Thomas Jones their feature running back for beginning of the 2005 season. Jones' performance impressed the Bears' coaching staff, and earned him the top spot on the team's depth-chart for the next two seasons. Benson occasionally received playtime, and he rushed for eighty yards on sixteen carries against the New Orleans Saints during his best game. However, shortly afterwards, he suffered a medial collateral ligament sprain and missed most of the remaining season.

After the 2005 season(In 2006), the Bears considered making Benson the team's feature running back after Thomas Jones was unhappy with his current contract status. The team's plans went astray when Benson injured his shoulder after colliding with Brian Urlacher during a routine scrimmage. Although the injury was not serious, it placed Benson on the sidelines for a majority of the preseason.

(In 2007)Benson began to stabilize after the bye week. In one of his best games of the season, Benson rushed for eighty-nine yards and scored one touchdown on eleven attempts. He averaged 5.8 yards in his next game, but sustained a season-ending ankle injury. Benson, who had amassed 647 yards and four touchdowns, was relieved by Adrian N. Peterson.

(In 2008). He originally backed-up Chris Perry. [1], beginning his season in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys, rushing 10 times for 30 yards. Cedric Benson became the starting back for the Bengals for the Week 7 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He hasnt played a full year yet either, and didnt start his rookie year

Garcia reportedly could be Russell’s backup
By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Sunday, April 5th, 2009 at 9:42 am in Oakland Raiders.

As the game of free agency musical chairs for quarterbacks continues, Jeff Garcia is reportedly considering the Raiders.

The same Garcia who visited with Lane Kiffin two years ago, only to sign with the Tampa Bay Bucs in part because he feared the Raiders would draft JaMarcus Russell.

The same Garcia who told Bay Area media by conference call during the last week of the season he still considered himself a starting quarterback.

Profootballtalk.com posted a Garcia-to-Oakland item last night, and NBC Bay Area took it a step further, saying a deal was close.

Reached Garcia’s agent this morning, who declined comment.

It’s clear that Garcia is not going into anyone’s camp as the No 1 quarterback.

The issue before Garcia is if he wants to go to a situation where there is a potentially faltering starter, meaning he could conceivably take over the job, or enter in to a situation where he has no chance to be No. 1 unless there is an injury.

If he is OK at age 39 with being No. 2, Garcia could be present the sort of mentor in terms of preparation and work ethic that coach Tom Cable would like to pair with Russell, who is still developing in those areas. It would also provide the Gilroy native a chance to move back to the Bay Area.

Garcia worked for a year with quarterbacks coach Paul Hackett in Tampa Bay.

There has been some movement regarding free agent quarterbacks in recent days, with Kyle Boller signing with St. Louis and Patrick Ramsey with Tennessee. Boller had a visit with the Raiders.

Oakland also had a visit early on with Seattle’s Charlie Frye, who remains a free agent. Quinn Gray, who last played for Kansas City, talked with the Raiders a year ago.

At present, the candidates to back up Russell are Andrew Walter and Bruce Gradkowski, another ex-Buc.

Acquiring Garcia would afford the Raiders the opportunity of landing a late-round draft pick for Walter, who is in the last year of his contract and has no plans to remain beyond that. It would be the last shot to get something for a player who doesn’t figure in their plans.

Other quarterbacks looking for teams include Charlie Batch, Byron Leftwich, Rex Grossman, J.P. Losman and Gus Frerotte, not to mention Marques Tuiasosopo.

ediot!!!!!!!!
Yeah and those others were

16 for 90 against KC
14 for 55 against Buf
14 for 48 against SD
8 for 30 against Car

other games include

3 for 9 against NO
6 for 10 against Bal
3 for -2 against ATL
2 for 0 against Den
2 for 4 against SD

Bush went over 100 only 1 time this year Benson did it 3x

Take away that 1 game vs TB and he only has 68 Carries for 244 yards and 1 TD and a 3.5 YPG

What a solid starting RB he is......

heres their best 1 game performances
Bush 27 carries 177 yards
Benson 38 carries 171 yards

Raiders sign QB Jeff Garcia

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP)—Quarterback Jeff Garcia is returning to the Bay Area after agreeing to a deal with the Oakland Raiders.

Raiders senior executive John Herrera told The Associated Press that the four-time Pro Bowler will join the club’s offseason workout program immediately alongside starter JaMarcus Russell.

Garcia spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, starting 24 games and leading them to the playoffs, but wasn’t re-signed by the club.

The 39-year-old quarterback enjoyed the best seasons of his NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers, passing for more than 16,000 yards from 1999-2003.

2008: Best of Jeff Garcia

NFL.com Video

Highlights of the best moments from Jeff Garcia in 2008.

Twice before during his football career, the Raiders talked to Garcia about joining them, dating back to his days coming out of college.

Garcia grew up in Gilroy, Calif., and went to college at San Jose State. Out of college, he signed with Calgary of the CFL. The Raiders also talked to him about joining them another time before he settled into a career with the San Francisco 49ers, a career that has featured Pro Bowls and trips to the playoffs.

The 39-year-old Garcia is expected to back up JaMarcus Russell, who is solidly entrenched as the starter.

The Raiders will be Garcia's sixth team. He has also played with the 49ers, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Garcia started for Jon Gruden and the Bucs last year, but the team elected not to bring him back as the starter. He was an unrestricted free agent. Garcia completed 61.6 percent of his passes during his career and has 161 career touchdown passes.

Great move... just incase JR gets hurt or underperforms, Garcia should be able to come in off the bench and keep us movin'.... Garcia will bring that winning attitude to our locker room...
