Ray Guy bankrupt, must sell Super Bowl rings
Every year, the best punter in college football receives the Ray Guy Award. But sadly, the namesake for that trophy is selling off the rings that commemorate his contribution to three Oakland Raiders teams that won Super Bowls.
Nate D Sanders Auctions is taking bids on the rings from Super Bowls XI, XV and XVIII that Guy is being forced to part with after declaring bankruptcy.
SportsCollectorsDaily.com says the rings have a combined anticipated value of $75,000-$90,000, but the high bid at 4 p.m. Wednesday was $19,194.
Guy, 61, was a seven-time Pro Bowler for the Raiders during his 14-year career. He filed for bankruptcy last year and was authorized in May to sell the rings, according to Bloomberg. The auction ends Aug. 9.
