am I the only one that's glad we didn't over pay for miller?

miller 2010 stats: 60 rec 685 yds 11.5 avg 5 TD

boss 2010 stats: 35 rec 531 yds 15.2 avg 5 TD

boss did that on a team where he wasn't the focal point of the passing game and he's a better blocker. won't cost nearly as much to sign him either. factor in miller's health concerns and it's not worth giving him all that guaranteed money. he's about 2 concussions away from being forced to retire.

Here's the Zach Miller contract with the Seahawks: 5 years, $34 million, including $17 million guaranteed.

thats 6.8 million apy,
dallas clark for the colts get 6.98,
gates gets 7.2
and davis gets 7.35 apy.

just a comparison of the top tight ends in the nfl, i think those salary #s are current
not trying to shit on the raiders at all, i agree miller doesnt deserve that kind of money. But how are you guys going to say you guys dont want to over pay him when you guys had no problem with over paying routt and wimbley. Also ive heard many of you say "fuck it, the money isnt ours".

I didn't agree with overpaying routt at all. especially after reading that interview with nnamdi where he says he wanted to come back, but wasn't even given an offer. al didn't seem to have anything bad to say about nnamdi either. I think maybe nnamdi's agents pulled some shysty shit trying to get another 15 mil a year contract out of al and it backfired on them. since he ended up choosing a team that was offering less than the other teams that were after him

with kam it was just an unfortunate situation with the 30% rule. he should have had the option picked up on his contract and been signed for 4 mil this year, but the rule blocked us from doing that. so he got the franchise and then we were forced to give him a big contract or get fucked on the salary cap this year.

seymore's contract is the only one I don't have a problem with. it might be too much, but he's the leader of our defense and having him raise the young talent on the line is something that can't be replaced.

^ i agree, we over payed for both of those guy

i woulda actually rather over payed miller than those two now that i think about it lol

and i think tatupu is a reach, alot of teams are looking at him right now, but lets hope we pull it off and sign him and bossman to the squad, at reasonable prices.

we'll be getting some decent compensatory picks for nnamdi and miller at least. nnamdi will get us a 3rd rounder probably and miller maybe a 4th rounder. compensatory picks are decided on some formula like how much the free agents you lost were signed for and what free agents from other teams you bring in.

another thing, is now we should have the money to sign mike bush to a long term deal, instead of just having that one year tender on him.

The Oakland Raiders will certainly have to add another receiving weapon for quarterback Jason Campbell after star tight end Zach Miller signed with Seattle.

He was Campbell’s favorite target and the Raiders’ most reliable receiver. He led Oakland with 60 catches for 665 yards last season. The Raiders have several young receivers, but they could use a reliable, veteran presence at either tight end or receiver.

The Raiders’ starting tight end now is Brandon Myers. He has potential, but he is more of a blocker than a receiver. He has 16 catches for 99 yards in two NFL seasons.

Al Davis could pursue Giants’ tight end Kevin Boss. He is a solid player who is from the West Coast, but the Giants have shown some interest in bringing him back. Boss is no Miller, but he could help Oakland. Other free-agent tights include Alge Crumpler and Bo Scaife.

Oakland could also look to sign a receiver. Among the receivers available are Malcom Floyd, Braylon Edwards and the Giants’ Steve Smith. Once the Raiders get their salary-cap situation completely taken care of, I could see them try to get an established veteran.

There are indications that they were already looking at receivers. Tuesday, on “SportsCenter,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Raiders were only one of the teams that ‘mulled’ pursuing Randy Moss before he announced his retirement. Schefter indicated Moss, who had an unsuccessful stint in Oakland in 2005-06 wasn’t interested. Last week, the Raiders sought permission from Cincinnati to talk to receiver Chad Ochocinco before he was dealt to New England.

The Raiders nearly signed Baltimore left tackle Jared Gaither during the weekend, but he still has back issues that caused him to miss all of last season. If the Raiders still want a veteran left tackle, they could pursue Bryant McKinnie. He was just released by the Vikings.

With Miler out of the picture, the Raiders have to do something and there are plenty of options.

Meanwhile, Miller told the Oakland Tribune why he chose the Seahawks. The Raiders just weren’t offering much.

Both miller and nnamdi were out for the most important game of the season. the first game against the chiefs and we won without them. we'll be fine. like HUE JACK CITY says, NEXT MAN UP!

in his last 3 seasons BOSSMAN had 16 TDs

miller had 12 in his last 4 seasons
Boss also had the luxury of playing with pretty decent WRs, giving him the opportunity to grab those TDs because the defenses weren't keying on him.

Meanwhile Miller did his thing when opposing defenses were keying on him and only him in passing situations.

As a Chiefs fan, Im glad ya'll let Miller get away. :classic:

how about that last game of the season when we exposed your QB like a hot nurse. cassel was running for his life the whole game. you can expect more of that this season. CODE BLACK 2011

lol at people acting like miller is antonio gates or tony gonzales in his prime. trust me, he's replaceable.
he does semi resemble TG when he was here though. as in TG being the only receiving threat we had for awhile and he still did work regardless. its a bigger deal then you think it is breh.

no. you exposed our weak interior oline. qbs can't do shit when the opposing defense is on their neck before their targets are 5 yards down field...lol
