Hmmm..... I didn't know this.... Al is still on top of his game. I guess he thinks Nnamdi is going to leave so he had to lock up Routt but check this out fellas.....

"After slipping behind Chris Johnson on Oakland's depth chart in recent years, Routt had his best season in 2010. According to STATS LLC, opponents completed just 39.4 percent of passes against Routt -- one of the best marks in the league despite being a frequent target as teams stayed away from Nnamdi Asomugha's side. He improved markedly from 2009, when he allowed opponents to complete 65.9 percent of their passes."

rout is a joke. I don't give a fuck what his percentage is, he's garbage. I watched enough of him to know, I don't need to look at some bullshit stat line. we already have chris johnson under contract and nobody was going to give rout 10 mil a year.

Maverick Davis Defies Convention, Again
at 7:57 AM
Stanford Routt received a new contract for $31 million over three years with about $10 per year over the first two years. Richard Seymour will be paid in the $12-15 million per year range for the next two years. Kamerion Wimbley will receive a one-year franchise tender around $10 million.

Throw in $8 million to John Henderson and a ham sandwich for Rock Cartwright and you have about $80 million worth of spending on players.

$80 million is a lot of money in a normal NFL off season, but it is even more considering the uncertainty surrounding the CBA.

There are still free agents to be signed too. Nnamdi Asomugha, Michael Bush, Zach Miller, Michael Huff and Robert Gallery are all potentials.

While the Routt contract would seemingly indicate the end of the Nnamdi Asomugha era, don't be surprised if Al Davis continues to open his wallet for his players, including Asomugha.

Signing players before a new CBA is signed is risky business. The market for players could completely change under terms of the new CBA.

If the labor terms change and the owners get a bigger slice of the revenue pie, the Raiders would have several contracts on the books that were detrimental moving forward. The contracts run for two or three years instead of four to six for this reason.

If however the NFLPA negotiates for a bigger slice of the revenue pie, the contracts Davis has handed out could seem like bargains.

If the NFL adopts an 18-game schedule, the contacts signed prior may be spread out over an additional two games. Two additional games would increase the season length by 12.5%.

Provided the owners were able to realize the extra games as revenue increases, the players are going to ask for some of that revenue to be as part of the cap figure.

While other teams will be forced to renegotiate under the new terms for players, the Raiders have grandfathered these contracts under the prior rules. If the contracts are structured to avoid likely new proration rules under a new CBA, the deals are could be financially sound.

If Nnamdi Asomugha does in fact sign with another team the Oakland Raiders won’t be left entirely out in the cold.

Despite the fact Asomugha will be an unrestricted free agent, the team will still receive a compensatory pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

ESPN’s Bill Williamson points out that the pick is likely to be the No. 97 overall pick, which would fall at the end of the third round. By rule, the highest compensatory pick available is in the third round.

Asomugha’s contract voided after the season.

It is not believed the Raiders are willing to pay Asomugha’s high pricetag again. There is little doubt another team will.

Breathe... damn everyone is getting all excited and shit. Nnamdi is gone, we all know that. It looks to be beneficial if the Raiders get another 3rd round pick especially because we don't have a 1st rounder.

Al is anticipating a change in the way contracts are done, if he is right those contracts are great for the Raiders. Lets just wait and see.

did anyone think that about the fact that Nnamdi (or any of our free agents) might not be able to sing anywhere this season

free agency can't take place until we get a new CBA... if this shit drags on through the summer... which many people are predicting it will... and a deal takes place right before the season... wouldn't every team be stuck with their players for the season?

I heard that somewhere... not sure how exactly how it works... but that might end up working for us... I dunno though

lol could we afford him at this point?
I dunno how it would work

but think about it... FA's can't sign until we get a CBA... if we get a CBA RIGHT before the season... do they just stick with the team they're at?

do they not get to play?

I haven't heard much discussion on that aspect of it... and since this isn't something that happens often at all... I have no fucking clue

anyways... as far as signing Rout... I'm not mad at him coming back... I think he did step his game up... and you have to remember ANY corner who plays opposite Nnamdi has one of the hardest jobs in the NFL, since they're ALWAYS targeted... I mean, he's no Aso by any means... but nobody is... so of course anyone playing opposite him is gonna give up some plays

with that being said... we paid him way too much money, we could have signed him for a lot less... but Al takes care of guys he likes

shit, maybe Al is on to something though... everyone said the same thing when Tommy Kelly was signed to a huge deal... and he damn near had a Pro Bowl season last year, he was beastin

I think overall we have talent in our backfield all around, and Woodson as a CB coach is only gonna help make em better

With Al spending all this money, it would seem he will orchestrate a new CBA because he doesnt want to take a loss.... could be a sign of good things to come.

I don't care how much Al is spending, but we are def. resigning players that I at least wanted to stick around! some of you may have diff opinions about Routt, but I actually think he will do very well for us.. if we don't resign Aso, Routt is someone I actually wanted to stick around .. he'll be better in our D then anyone else.. and looks like we tagged Wimbley ( our sack leader ) because Zach Miller is getting a long term deal worked out.. all is good Raider Nation.. were getting shit done

Al takes care of the players he likes, there is no question there. If we can improve defensively and stay healthy, we will be challenging for the AFC conference championship in 2011. Yeah, I am taking it there. Call it what you want, the Raiders are back. We have a creative mind as our head coach who understands you adjust your scheme to your players, not make the players fit the scheme. It has been a long time coming but we are on the right track. Al may be old and delusional at times, but it is obvious he got the memo. Now go fuck yourself now haters because once the season starts, we are raping yall with no grease....
