We need a Supergroup.... I've been saying it for a while now. All these One-Artist labels are not getting the job done., especially when that One-Artist has a day job, kids, a mortgage payment, and who knows what else to take care of.
Just like I said in the one thread a while back....... "big" features, just like the last 5 years, do about nothing. Harsh Game For the People, Poetic Epidemic, Lac of Respect....all of them relied on a heavy local presence, and were big favorites. The one exception i'd give you is Neema's My Life For Sale, but honestly, he could have sold most of those albums without the national features. Let's not forget Take Control hit the radio waves long before We Can Ride did, and got MORE play. Radio play aside, the man works hard.
The achilles heel will always be the length of time between albums (both ways). While nobody wants the same artist back-to-back-to-back--watch some Pro Wrestling and you'll see exactly what I mean. Watch how the Champion is pushed--they aren't out there defending the title every night, not out there wrestling singles matches every night.....it's mixed up constantly. 3-Man teams, 4-man teams, tag teams, all of that.
Blah blah blah long story short we need more group albums and pooled resources. THE END. I'm gonna go fuckin eat something.
