^^nah thats from a scanner, the printed work prolly doesnt look like that it prolly just look likes that from rapbay scanning it on to there computer, calibrating would fix color problems that is from a scanner though and if it does for some reason print like that wich i HIGHLY doubt its becuase of the printer, but those are just images that were scanned and uploaded

i did a cover couple months ago that had a lot of purple in it and when i'd get the proofs the color looked wrong. now i dont know if this is the best way but it worked for that project: from rgb i converted to cmyk then saved as a high res jpeg, then put it in the illustrator template.

i think it might have something to do with color profiles too. holla at your printer and see what color profile they recomend.

btw dope work-

blazelazy i understand what you're sayin but that's not the point, if i design it a certain way, i don't want it to change when it's printed feel me

thanks 3rd Eye, i'll check on that too, i tried gettin at the printers about some of this shit too, so hopefully some of my newer stuff will come out better

i'm wondering also if it's the way i'm saving my files, my tiffs, is there certain settings i should have it on, i been designing for years and aint never had color problems

C-4, try contacting or locating one of your local printing shops, or printing services. It's worth a try to see if they will try to help you out and explain to you.

you have to have it printed in cmyk, just make the artwork in that color format from the begining from now on , cmyk(cyan, magenta, yellow,Key or black) uses different colors then rgb(red, green, blue) those are the main colors used to make the rest of the colors you use. you can make the work in rgb if you want just transfer it to cmyk before you send it and usually your art isnt to big of a difference but if it is just mess wit the curves to get it back like the rgb one (usually just a needs to be a little brighter)

aigh, dont read nothing, go grab a cover youve printed and physically hold it in front of you, then pull the same one up in ps or the jpeg of the full 300dpi cmyk version, now go into your monitors color managment shit either on your screen or on your desktop on your computer now just play with all the settings untill the cover on your screen looks EXACTLY like the one your holding in your hand, now everytime you design youll be looking at what it will exactly look like when its printed,

ok i'll try that, thanks for simplifying it haha

one more question though, I really do think there's somethin wrong with the Tiff settings though cuz when I send work to print in other formats like Illustrator EPS or somethin flat, it comes out fine

OK Made some progress today kinda. I found out that my monitor does not need to be calibrated, or if it does, not much. I printed out some of my work direct from photoshop and it printed out perfect, the colors looked great. So I still want to know why when my work goes to big print shops its' coming out dark and it looks like the colors are kinda ugly bleeding into each other or somethin.

I made some screen shots of my .Tiff file settings and also of my Photoshop Color settings, so if anyone who knows printing knows if my settings are right or wrong, let me know please. I know I should already know all this and I feel like an idiot asking, but this is killing my work.

Tiff Save Screen #1

Tiff Save Screen #2

And here's how my Photoshop Color Settings are as of right now

Does anything look off as far as how settings should be for Print Work??

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'll get yall back some how.

OT: One thing I would suggest is setting your image compression in the TIFF options to LZW. Compresses the files without any loss in quality. Just in case you didn't already know.

but that wouldn't have anything to do with how the image would look, it would just save file space?
