Shit yeah schooly was known for that street rap..but at the same time you had Just ice and more doing the same..even Busy B was talking about suicide and murder.....Boogy boys was talking about pussy....Mc Shan was talking about the projects..addiction to crack..I guess the definition of gangsta can be translated differently, To me you aint gotta claim any allegiance to a set, or talk about the work ya put in to be gangsta. Shit boogie down productions was gangsta at times as well. Kool Moe Dee....Many people only hear the songs which was popular, ya gotta listen to the whole tape...Shit Public enemy was gangsta..even though they political...

lemme ask yall a question

so if i up and woke up today and listen to shawty lo for the first time

and i end up liking it

that means im hypnotized?

i mean, even prior to my hate (if i did hate) on how i think hes commercial and a bad look for the music blah blah blah

why cant people see the divide? some dude copped a gucci mane album and said you know what, hes pretty tight...the other guy goes fuck gucci mane hes ignorant people like that fuck up the rap game...but he never actually checked for it..and if eh did he stayed in a closed minded way of thinking the whole time

if i thought like that i woulda never liked any country..any blues or world music or reggae or soul music or anything...hip hop is in a disgusting state..

freaks, i respect you, but youre sort of whats sad about rap, on a listeners standpoint

when you hear music youre just like skill! skill! skill!

you cant just kick back and soak up an ambiance for what it is

why cant you listen to everything? is something that you dont like in your ear so painful that you cant digest it, or go against the grain in your way of thinking?

why can people appreciate small things in life? he has to be the next best thing since fuckin cinnamon toast crunch, it cant just be a dude tellin a story? who even pays for albums now?

look man, in my decade and a change of loving hip hop music i have been constantly proven wrong about preemptively hating on someone. from juvenile of cash money (check out 400 degreez...classic album) to cannibal ox (i once hated them, and now i think cold vein is classic)...even tupac..i once thought tupac was a masquerading, napolean complex having, gay tendency ass bi polar kid who was reaching out for love as much as he could and basically adapted his role of bishop on juice in the rap game, with a west coast twist. and eventually years later i loved his music.

and i used to fight my homeboy about that.

if ANYTHING in hip hop ve learned to not hate..and respect it for what it is...5-10 years later that shit might be genius to you...cuz they aint listening to your album...atleast respect that movement to get across a point it mighta been free to you or money involved....its all still hip hop whether you like it or not....respect the music in general

if someone writes a bad book i still respect the nigga for writing a book. cuz im sittin here...thinkin about writing one.

some songs i heard that made me shut the fuck up about juvenile, 3 years later.. (shout out to synical i give you shouts out for opening me up to some of this)

aroudn 2000 i stopped listening to east coast, west coast..i was all south my nigga will tll you...screw, fat pat, pokey, all that..listening to lil wayne back then when people hated him and look now, freaks? million albums in a week?

its not about what "music you grew up with" ...hip hop goes farther than the west and we all have styles....open ya mind dog thats all imma say

maybe one day ya brain might change..you know how taste buds change..you might not have liked bananas all your life but 20 years later you like it...just peep it all out if you care about rap...were all in this together

i aint gonna keep rantin thats all i gotta say right now

hip hop is the voice of the streets and murder and all the stuff u said killed hip hop is what (a majority) of the artist come from. i know a few rappers and i can first hand say yeah he really was like this or he is puttin up a front. but what im sayin is violence comes with the terroritory of rap cuz thats what alot of rappers come up aroun. if i was soulja boy i would have said sumthin to ice t, i dont hate soulja boy and i wont say he's killin hip hop he's makin music for a certain audience and it just so happens his audience likes the music he puts out. a very big audience likes his music. the thing i hate is a lot of older generation rappers try and sway away fans from a certain rapper or region and it shouldnt be like that if people like ur music people are gonna like it period. rappers actin like soulja boy is mexican and takin jobs from em. lol. i remember when everybody hated nelly for goin 8x platinum and havin sing a long rap songs. everybody gotta shine sumday. if anybody has a problem why dont they make a hit and take the attention away from soulja boy
i know what u mean but to me theres a difference between sayin what you been through and glorifing it. and when rappers glorify that shit you end up with people like this...

Point is Soulja Boy is a coon. Point Blank. I mean how do u expect people to take u serious when u respond by just clowing a niggaz age & shit. Atleast ice sounded serious about what he was saying. Soulja Boy could of just spoke for 2 minutes & gotten just as serious & ended it righ there. This nigga on a web cam giggling & talking stupid & his lil homies in the background chuickling. that shit loooked gay as fuck. He made some good points here & there but he came off shucking & jiving in his response but @ the same time wants to be taken serious. Dude is dumb as fuck. U know u dumb when u do a song talking about u want ur teacher to throw some D's on ur report card instead of F's. low expectation having nigga.

I was thinking about this bullshit this week, and for myself, Ice-T, and anybody else offended by gay ass "rappers" really I just gotta say Solja Boy is NOT HIP HOP, It's Pop music, just because SOlja Boy is a young black male who may b from the hood, that does not qualify as being Hip Hop. So u can't kill HIP HOP with Pop music.

no offense, but oldschool music had some retarded ass shit equal or worse than soulja boy
its totally different... 2 reasons...

1) back then there was a lot of other music out to balance it out overall. the dancing shit is getting too much shine..

2) solja boy and all the other bubble gum pop dance type rap is coming following the last 5 solid years of iced out big rims make it rain ass rap songs... its too damn much. internet forum fans are supposed to be damn near "hip hop purists" its a sad day when solja boy dont get slaughtered in these threads.. kid or no kid. im not going to agree with ice t and say solja killed hip hop cuz it aint dead and never will be. but i will say that the quality and content of music in general needs to come up bigtime and fans need to demand better music for their money. buy old shit if nobody gives you an album you like.

raine n lane n kokane the album

2 weeks

buy it on the myspace or... ima get it in the stores for yall. balee dat. at least fam bam.
