True. It's totally subjective to the individual getting "hated on" who actually gets to be considered a hater though.

You can have a person like me, who could care less about an individual personally but will comment on their music (or whatever their craft is) and offer constructive criticism in a way that I'm known for (blunt, honest, harsh etc...) and I can be labeled a "hater" because the individual recieving the criticism hasn't thickened his/her skin enough to absorb how I'm coming at them.

Good one and your right, but it's easy to separate the two.

If they just criticize your music or whatever it's one thing...typical "hater" steps outta bounds and starts attacking at random and blows shit outta proportion.

As artist we need to learn to accept constructive criticism (comes with the territory), but never accept bullshit from anybody.
i agree

Its a whole lot easier to put someone down with constructive criticism than it is to say something positive, you learn that in elementary school. To me your voice or opinion dont mean shit to me unless i hear it coming out the other individuals mouth. Im no artist in anywhich shape or form, but i could understand where you guys are coming from when all this badtalk becomes frequent. If i feel the need to share my thoughts of an artists that I'm not feeling, I try so in a manner of what i feel is necessary to make that artist understand the faults i find in their product (music).

Sticks n stones and a good beatdown may break bones but words will never hurt me....

Example: I'm not a gangsta, never have been...and I like to keep my songs about what's real to me. THEN, cats hate and tell me I suck because I'm not doin' what the next man is....at the same time, people who LOVE MUSIC, respect what I do and often say they dig it...and if they don't, they give reasons. Now, if I were to go drop a track with Quinn, Keak, Yuk, or whoever...my "credibility" goes through the roof, and all of a sudden more people pay attention. Not how it should be, but that's how a lot of cats act out here.
ain't u tha same cat that wuz talkin bout how hard u wuz years ago? how yo momma tried to poisin yo baby bottle or some shit? i remember u cryin on this muthafuca till this day eveyrtime i C yo name ha ha ha

I'm talking bout you name droppin, trying to floss, cant stand on your own, groupie ass, band wagon ridin, favorite rapper nut-jugglin, hide behind keyboard, trend following, contradictin, shit talkin, exploit the culture ass muthafuccas that post on here. In my VERY HUMBLE opinion I can say that 85% of the cats that post on here fit in one of them catagories.

The Northern California INDEPENDENT musice scene (rap game) was built on the exact opposite of all those things that I mentioned. I'm talking back in the days (early 90's). It wasnt about name droppin, it was about doing some shit on your own merit. It wasnt about trying to floss, it was about real networking without the hating shit. It wasnt about finding what you think is the hottest rapper to get on your shit, it was about takin extra time so that what you put out was quality and top notch, and your close homies (folks) was the ones that was on your shit, unless you did a collab with some other up and coming folks that you networked with. It wasnt rollin with different clicks on the bandwagon, cause soon as they the shit, they get replaced with the next "shit" that comes along. It wasnt about nut swangin from no rappers, you just appreciated the mans music, and if you seen him you would give him dap and tellem to keep doing what he doing, and cut out. It wasnt about following trends, cause you was too busy SETTING THEM, others had to get on in, or be left behind! It wasnt about talkin like a killa when your favorite rapper get in some shit and you wishin death on his enemies, but when he get smoked, you wanna get misty eyed and get all respectful with flowers and shit, talkin soft when you was just saying muthafuccas need to get dumped on. Why aint you said, Dam thats fucked up what happened to MC so and so, but shit them fools that did it handled they business, gangsta ni**as do gangsta things! What happened yall?

Go back, especially you youngstas, go back and see, listen. Go get the In-a-Minute catalog. Listen to Totally Insane first album, RBLs first album (they were the perfect example of networking with no egos) Go get Mac Dre shit before all the Thizz came into play. Go get E-40's and the Clicks first albums when it was Sick Wid It/Solar. Hugh E MC, Short, 4tay. Cougnut, parts Unknown up outta EPA, Chunk, C-Funk. get a thourough listen on them. hear in them songs the originality of that time, the delivery, they was hungry and made sure they came out with they BEST shit. Not some shit thrown together real quick to get a dollar off the dick riders.

had to get that off my chest.
Thas real fam. I read this earlier at skoo but felt I needed to have more time to drop my piece on this. I agree 110%. Speaking from a yung buck myself, 17, that really aint interested in what evryone else is now days, I find music 10+ years ago the most best, well put together, with lyrical talent & production that never gets tiring of hearing. Til this day, while evryone's slumpin' the same collabs, same concept songs, same corny tracks made out here, I'm slumpin' the originators of this Independent Bay Area rap. Back in the 90's when I wasnt old enough to knw what "networking" was or anythin' that hada do with music, I could remember enjoying listening to classic Cougnut, Black Dynasty, RBL etc. etc.etc. over & over & it would NEVER get tiring. As I'm speaking, I'm slumpin' that RBL's Ruthless By Law, I can tell the hunger out of their voices, & feel the hunger thru the beats. Listen to Mac Dre's 1st Rompalation, IMP's Ill Mannered Playaz, Dubee's "Sugawolf Pimp" album. Them dudes were HUNGRY AS FUCK to name a few! Idk bout yall, but I culd feel their hustle thru their music. & as a fan, I STILL get goosebumps frm hearin' Mac Dre in "Where We Dwell" "The B-A-Y-A-R-E-A, Where niggaz smoke dank & drank all day" or C-Fresh's "Wild Wild West". Cuzz you knew them dudes was reppin' YOU(the Bay) nationwide while givin' YOU the very best they had while bein' hungry enough to collab with anyone that brought heat like Rbl w/ Cellski, Dre Dogg w/ Coug, & the list goes on.

You hit the nail on the head Reese when you said our music scene was built on evrythin' thats NOT now. But unfortunately, things change & most imporantly, generations are changin & aint getn any better. Folx aint thinkin' quality over quantity no more, they thinkin' quantity over quality! They knockin' out shit (and when I say shit, I literally mean SHIT) in a short period of time. Tryna feed it to us, the fans, & if it dont work, they continue to give shove us SHIT til it'll work. Thinkin' the right same corny hook will catch on, the same boring beat will catch on. & they got that mentality cuzz it's been proven to work! They thinkin' why stretch my lyrical ability, why step up a quality track if quantity is more important than quality? It's a short cut & you knw, folx wont take the long way if they can possibly be one of the few that get that short cut. As for me, I'mma continue slumpin' the oldies, but GOODIES frm the Bay. The type of music that made you PROUD of the Bay's unique, independent, original HUSTLE & GRIND & bein' PROUD that you can call that home.

Fuck, I feel I shoulda been born a few years sooner to appreciate what we were once known for. Lol.

Some long ass paragraphs being written here... But how can people get upset at the fans for listening to what is being put out?! There's not much of a choice in terms of Bay music, the cats we relied on aren't putting the same product and some are just dropping out of the game. In essence the rappers of today have been influenced by the rappers of yesterday. It's hard to carry on a style and as far as networking goes shits like high school you gotta wait till others graduate.

You must have me confused with somebody else, pimp. I've never said on this board or anywhere else "how hard I am". Oh, and never did I mention my mom poisoning my baby bottle or any shit close to that...I have a lot of love and respect for both of my parents, and have never talked about either of 'em in such a fashion...so you either have me confused, or you read somethin' and thought it said somethin' else. OR, maybe it was some shit about my best friend dying and I was crying about it on here?? If that was it, I give a fuck what anybody has to say about it. I'ma mourn that dude for the rest of my life...it's been 11 years and I JUST came to grips with it all.

I have, however, stated on this board in the past that I don't give a fuck what people say or think about me...and that's been true since I was a little ass kid. Doesn't make me harder than the next man, just means I fear nothing and nobody but the higher power that put me here...and words about me mean nothing to me, they're only words...feel me?

I was arrogant and hard headed (but never claimed to be a G or any of that)...YEARS AGO...but I have since grown and matured, and I'm on some real grown man shit now. Used to roll around in the dirt with cats over bullshit...but now I have no business doin' that dumb shit...I'm out here tryin' to teach the next generation how to be MEN before they become NUMBERS!

Like I said, I speak what's real to ME...some if it may be some hard shit, some of it is on a sad tip...I've been through it all but managed to keep myself out of the system and out of the nonsense. Sounds like your interpretation of what I MAY HAVE typed once was wrong...but I've never misrepresented myself once.

first of all the bay did not network with each other in the early 90's with the exception of a few rappers! may be you dont remember the funk between the east and west bay???? niggas been talkin shit since the beggining of time so what are you sayin? im tired of old ass niggas tryin to bring back the old days. maybe niggas cant afford to pay for propper studio time especially mastering the quality back then was shit and if you really know music than you would know that rbl slapped but their first album wasnt quality.no one needs to get dumped on period!!!!!!! and when a BITCH has to shoot someone thats all they are is a bitch! so they handled they business when mac dre,the mac, hitman,ect.ect.ect.ect. got killed? no they took another black man and created more stereo types for all the kids to buy into. so if your tired of these new niggas im tired of you old niggas! I think your riding 1993's dick!oh ya learn to speak english!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
