all of this but whats the solution, and how are "you" going to act on it,name all the bay rappers that go on tours, i.e taking their act on the road, (outside of the bay area) u wont name many, and it aint like it cost hella much to drive place to place, hell if u can afford to buy out bars, luxury cars, iced out mouthpeice grills and thousands of dollars worth of artist features then u should be able to have some money to go on tour, press yo cds up and fly to other areas (push and promote) or rent a car and drive to those other places while hittin up every spot in between...

all this complaining and lil action is all ive been seing lately, which wont get no where fast. all star weekend = it was mafuckas travelin (by car) from atlanta to las vegas with stacks and stacks of product (cds/dvds) that sold thousands of units which in turned payed for the gas there and back with some additional profits...how many cats do yal know that do shit like this.....

i know if i had some dope ass tracks that i would be tryin to take my shit on the road, hell thats what they did in the old days when it came to blues and RnB,u dont stay in one spot and as huslters out here we should all know that, especially me cuz i keep it movin..

how come zion i and others sell 50k units or more and at the same time are not on the radio or given much credit here in their own region but however sell more then your favorite bay rap factor... shit isnt that hard to realize. fuck waitin on somebody else, alot of people still aint learned, ghetto trapped mindstates, shake out of that mode, the bay aint went to sleep it was the people in the bay that went to sleep.wake yal asses up its 2007 and all we can do is still complain? if this is how we get down, how we gon ever get up?

and its more to it then just that,we got alot of internal problems within our neighborhoods which brings more politics to the tables because of beef (funk) and that shit affects everybody. you wanna see bay music rise, then go back to your local communities and look whats going on from the street life to the average person tryin to make it out of that enviorment, make a change,go smart. it gets deeper

THIS IS BECAUSE IN SOMEWAY THE BAYS DEMOGRAPHICS IS CHANGING ALOT OF BLACK FOLKS MOVING OUT BECAUSE THE BAY WANTS TO BE ASIAN AND WHITE MOSTLEY AND ARE LEAVING OUT THE BLACK FOLKS FROM THE GHETTOS THAT MAKE THE MUSIC LIKE IT WAS BACK IN THE 90'S WHEN THE BAY USE TO BE A BLACK MANS PLACE AND THE MUSIC THRIVED FROM THE CULTURE OF A BLACK GHETTO,WE STILL GOT SOME OF THAT LEFT BUT WE HAVE ALOT OF OTHER RACES TRYING TO BE BLACK NOW AND LOOK STUPIT DOING I EXCLUDE LATINS FROM THIS BECAUSE WE WERE HERE WITH THE BLACK FOLKS SINCE THE BEGINNING, YOU GUYS MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND ME BUT IT GETS MUCH DEEPER THAN THIS, OR MAYBE IAM JUST HIGH
I think you're just HIGH! LMAO! C'mon man, for real...thoughts like that are the thoughts that keep us STUCK! When everybody realizes that this music is not just black culture anymore, we'll be all good. People from every race born in the last 25-30 years grew up with this shit right in front of their faces, which means it is their culture now, too. Yes, it was started by black folks...but it was EMBRACED by EVERYBODY! It ain't just blacks and latins that struggle, it's people from every background. If your reasoning was true, why do other regions embrace Em, Haystak, Bubba Sparxx, and various other artists from different backgrounds?

Oh, and I don't know where you got your info from, but people from all races have BEEN in the BAY for decades! Actually, no, at LEAST a century. SF was and IS a big melting pot, especially. You have black, latin, Italian, Irish, and Asian neighborhoods all in a city that spans 7 miles...and it's BEEN like that! San Jose has always had a mix of folks since I've been alive, and that's 25 years...and from what I understand, it was like that when my folks were growin' up as well.

My point is, we're not trying to be black...we discovered, at some point, a talent in ourselves to spit, and we have real shit to speak on using that talent. Yes, some whites/asians try to be black...but don't speak about the rest of us because of a few. Cats like me and the folks I work with (the ones that are white/asian), realize the value of accepting other cultures while maintaining our own. And, ya know what, it's a beautiful thing when we all get together and BBQ!! LMAO! Different dishes from different folks, but we can all gather around the flames and spit...and be one.

Now, on to this topic. REESE, that was a good read, and very true. I've always admired rappers like you who throw their folks with talent on their projects, rather than decorating the cover with an extensive feature list. I've been told since I jumped in, that I need to get tracks with all these cats that are known, and I always asked WHY?? I have 2 verses that I'm sittin' on, that my dude paid for because I believe I have the talent to succeed and don't need those names on my album...so I wasn't breakin' bread on that!

Cats used to network, and it used to be beautiful. Hell, when I was a damn teenager, and I ended up in a spot with other artists, it would be all love. Shit like, "Oh ok, you can spit, props...I'm doin' this, if you want to jump on, I have a spot for you"...and cats used to do that for each other on the regular. But you're right, cats are full of shit these days. They say one thing, then you want to collab, and they're cryin' out somethin' else. "PAY ME" or whatever the fuck it is that they want.

With that said, if anybody needs verses, get at me...it's NOTHIN! Oh, and watch for my album PURGATORY, which will be decorated with names like Young D, KillahMo, and JC...cats a lot of folks don't know, but who I believe have the biggest hearts for this shit. OH, and since good male vocalists are difficult to find around here, hit me up if you need one. His name is JC, and the dude spits that real soulful shit...

Yes, but there are a lot of dickriders who like the cats they like (for whatever reasons), and hate on those who aren't as big, or because of what they've heard about those artists...without actually hearing anything from them. OR, if they are fans of HYPHY or MOB shit...they hate on folks who aren't doin' either of those.

Example: I'm not a gangsta, never have been...and I like to keep my songs about what's real to me. THEN, cats hate and tell me I suck because I'm not doin' what the next man is....at the same time, people who LOVE MUSIC, respect what I do and often say they dig it...and if they don't, they give reasons. Now, if I were to go drop a track with Quinn, Keak, Yuk, or whoever...my "credibility" goes through the roof, and all of a sudden more people pay attention. Not how it should be, but that's how a lot of cats act out here.

That's the business though. You can't be mad at that.

What's funny is that the Bay Area was doing this a lot before the mainstream was doing it, then the mainstream caught on and started doing it and now it's common.

If your goal is to be up and out there with the mainstream acts, then you have to keep up with the Jones' to a certain extent.

If one fast food restaurant starts offering "healthy" alternatives on their menu and it's successful, other fast food chains will follow suit. That's business. Cats tend to forget: It's 10% music & 90% business.

i just want to say this. Rock your hometown, then take it to the road. I can say what my crew did and that was rock the home town shows just to get your name out. Then go state to state and get breaded up there. bring the money back to your hometown and do a official release of your album. all the money you need to do that is on the road.

Not really Brugh. I've done a track with Yuk, amongst other Bay cat's & it still don't change things in here or anywhere for that matter (well, maybe less than a handful of difference).

Reese is right though on what he's sayin', but the fact of the matter is: Most people that run through these forums are not even doing anything musically.

They are just in here talkin' trash on "Good Threads" drawing attention to themselves because this (the internet / these forums) is the closest they'll ever get to being somebody famous.

I know it doesn't change shit, that's why I don't do it. But these non rappin clowns who dickride don't see it that way, that was my point. Cats look at me and say, "Oh, he ain't even fuck with anyone "big"...I ain't coppin' it"...feel me? To each his own. I know my fanbase, and the majority of it is people who don't dig rap that much...so that's a compliment in itself.

I feel ya Brugh. I get my hustle on because that's what I got into this Game for...to network and do what others say couldn't be done. Especialy comin' from a small ass town in Central Cali.

I really don't give 2 shits about what the next man thinks of me or my music. Unless he / she is gonna put some money in my pocket ya feel?

I'm gonna keep doin' my thang like I have been and I don't have time to stop & argue with some MoFo that wants me to stop because he has a bullshit opinion.

Do what you feel Homie and fuck everybody else unless they got some bread for ya.

The funny thing about that statement is a lot of what people consider "hating" is simply constructive criticism.

Good one and your right, but it's easy to separate the two.

If they just criticize your music or whatever it's one thing...typical "hater" steps outta bounds and starts attacking at random and blows shit outta proportion.

As artist we need to learn to accept constructive criticism (comes with the territory), but never accept bullshit from anybody.

Kinda like Gemini pointed out earlier about a message board being the closest thing some of these dweebs will ever have to getting "famous", you can say that about people feeling they're getting "hated" on.

It makes some people feel like they're "somebody" if someone else goes out of their way to say something negative about them.
