I'm talking bout you name droppin, trying to floss, cant stand on your own, groupie ass, band wagon ridin, favorite rapper nut-jugglin, hide behind keyboard, trend following, contradictin, shit talkin, exploit the culture ass muthafuccas that post on here. In my VERY HUMBLE opinion I can say that 85% of the cats that post on here fit in one of them catagories.

The Northern California INDEPENDENT musice scene (rap game) was built on the exact opposite of all those things that I mentioned. I'm talking back in the days (early 90's). It wasnt about name droppin, it was about doing some shit on your own merit. It wasnt about trying to floss, it was about real networking without the hating shit. It wasnt about finding what you think is the hottest rapper to get on your shit, it was about takin extra time so that what you put out was quality and top notch, and your close homies (folks) was the ones that was on your shit, unless you did a collab with some other up and coming folks that you networked with. It wasnt rollin with different clicks on the bandwagon, cause soon as they the shit, they get replaced with the next "shit" that comes along. It wasnt about nut swangin from no rappers, you just appreciated the mans music, and if you seen him you would give him dap and tellem to keep doing what he doing, and cut out. It wasnt about following trends, cause you was too busy SETTING THEM, others had to get on in, or be left behind! It wasnt about talkin like a killa when your favorite rapper get in some shit and you wishin death on his enemies, but when he get smoked, you wanna get misty eyed and get all respectful with flowers and shit, talkin soft when you was just saying muthafuccas need to get dumped on. Why aint you said, Dam thats fucked up what happened to MC so and so, but shit them fools that did it handled they business, gangsta ni**as do gangsta things! What happened yall?

Go back, especially you youngstas, go back and see, listen. Go get the In-a-Minute catalog. Listen to Totally Insane first album, RBLs first album (they were the perfect example of networking with no egos) Go get Mac Dre shit before all the Thizz came into play. Go get E-40's and the Clicks first albums when it was Sick Wid It/Solar. Hugh E MC, Short, 4tay. Cougnut, parts Unknown up outta EPA, Chunk, C-Funk. get a thourough listen on them. hear in them songs the originality of that time, the delivery, they was hungry and made sure they came out with they BEST shit. Not some shit thrown together real quick to get a dollar off the dick riders.

had to get that off my chest.

THIS IS BECAUSE IN SOMEWAY THE BAYS DEMOGRAPHICS IS CHANGING ALOT OF BLACK FOLKS MOVING OUT BECAUSE THE BAY WANTS TO BE ASIAN AND WHITE MOSTLEY AND ARE LEAVING OUT THE BLACK FOLKS FROM THE GHETTOS THAT MAKE THE MUSIC LIKE IT WAS BACK IN THE 90'S WHEN THE BAY USE TO BE A BLACK MANS PLACE AND THE MUSIC THRIVED FROM THE CULTURE OF A BLACK GHETTO,WE STILL GOT SOME OF THAT LEFT BUT WE HAVE ALOT OF OTHER RACES TRYING TO BE BLACK NOW AND LOOK STUPIT DOING I EXCLUDE LATINS FROM THIS BECAUSE WE WERE HERE WITH THE BLACK FOLKS SINCE THE BEGINNING, YOU GUYS MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND ME BUT IT GETS MUCH DEEPER THAN THIS, OR MAYBE IAM JUST HIGH

i agree. but u can only take it back to the early/mid 90s cuz anytime after 98 bay rap got overly saturated with compilations that progressively lacked quality with each drop (that's not to say there werent QUALITY releases around that time, just few n far between). that started to change with the whole 'new' style of bay rap and beats and rejuvenation of some cats careers. but now that the new shit is established u seein the flood of just cd after cd for that buck. instead of bein compilations they r just mixtapes .. IMO

but u also gotta look harder now just like back in the day for the cats that have some quality shit out that dont get hella rotation via radio play or mainstream club appeal. there r quite a few cats out there just like back in the day that are in the shadows that most folks r overlookin. but then again thats how it was then and now.

then again u have some artists that get mad cuz they feel they are bringin the complete package that others (in their opinions) arent. i seen that over the years on here, and those cats come n go. sometimes keepin it real and all that wont sell u shit when it comes down to it. its about that perfect combination of credibility, mass appeal, and innovation .. and most mf's will never have all 3 goin @ once to get it goin

u cant expect shit to stay da same forever.....thats just ignorant....sound quality gets better, housing improves, cars people drive get better......it aint da same streets it was in da late 80's early 90's.....anyone who is rappin bout that shit is either over 40(usually), or fakin (most likely)

but i do agree that quality albums need to be put 2gether....

Here's something that a lot of you don't understand about today's Bay Music. Ever since the Bay dropped off the map musically, it's had to play catch-up.

Bay artists are just now getting to the point where the rest of the mainstream music business was 5 years ago. The only exception I'm seeing is Clyde Carson. He seems to be on top of his shit and how the industry works right now.

The music business has changed dramatically in the last year and a half. Until the bay understands that it needs to keep up with industry changes as they happen, they will forever be playing catch-up.

Clyde Carson is cool as a person and I can't hate on their hustle at all.I bought their first cd from them off the street. To me it just seems like they (The Team) borrowed some swagger from Jay Z and put a Bay twist on it. Whether it be the beats they use or the song titles and flow, they are in a league by themselves here in the Bay.
