Let me break this down for you real quick bro because this thread is losing it's focus and I will expose exactly where our difference in perspective occurs.
-I don't advocate killing child molesters (I have not done so in this thread - capital punishment is hypocrisy IMO)
-I support locking them up for life.
-Despite what you and smile seem to think my decision is routed in well thought out logic and has nothing to do with anger (I already broke down the human nature of balancing which leads to the initial desire for retribution)
-It is FACT that rehabilitation is not 100% certain.
-Therefore anytime you "rehabilitate" and then release an offender to the general population you are irrefutably risking that they will molest someone else
This is where we disagree - you are willing to put the general population at a higher risk for the sake of the molester - I am not willing to take that risk.
If you have shown you are a danger to humans - you should not be around other humans.
For me this is about the safety of others; it has nothing to do with punishment as you and smile seem to have mistakenly assumed.

I work as a staff at a residential treatment facility for troubled teenage youth, and I would say at least half of the teenage girls at the facility I work for have been sexually assaulted to some degree. For me, I won't come out and say what rapist and molesters punishment should be, but the system needs to make the punishment much harsher than it is now. I see firsthand, everyday, the pain, anguish and turmoil it causes these young ladies. Pain that many of these teens wiill never fully recover from. It's absolutely devastating.

If someone gets caught pissing in public, a judge CAN require him to register. I know a boy who is 16 now, Six-fucking-teen, who in the 8th grade (14 years old) touched a little girls butt in gym class. His teacher saw him, reported it, he was charged with inappropriate sexual contact, and he will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life. Should he be looked upon the same way as a grown man (any man) who molested a 4 year old child?
This is purely for examples sake.....
Let's say we found out Gas One is a registered sex offender. As humans, do we take the time to find out what brought that about, or do we instantly assume 'sex offender, keep him away from your kids'.....? We live in a very judgemental society, and typically react first and ask questions later.
