Don't think there are any out there, definitely not on Allen's level. Plus I think the idea is Seattle would only offer him a 1-2 year deal, and definitely not trying to break the bank since they have priorities in the big three (Wilson, Earl and Sherm). Maybe a $7-$8 mil dollar deal for a year, something like that. Which is under what Allen wants but on the other hand he wants to win, thus the thinking it over. Plus he couldn't get s big deal that he wanted at Dallas or Green Bay so it may be his best option.

Yeah I agree but I don't think Allen precludes us from getting younger.
Sign Allen and then draft a young guy this year and/or next. Allen would be a awesome addition while the young guy develops. There weren't very many quality young guys available and the young guys coming up are gonna get crazy money when they hit FA.

Still dont really agree with it. Yes, he is proven but again...31. Would rather get a kid in the draft, pay him league minumum and see what happens. Im OK with a smallish rebuild for a year. There are some good looking DE's coming out this year in the draft.

The decision is in. The Chicago Bears announced early Wednesday morning that they had agreed to terms with 31-year-old defensive end Jared Allen on a four-year contract. Allen, who has racked up 85.5 sacks the past six seasons in the NFC North with the Minnesota Vikings, had made free-agent visits to the Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys this offseason and according to general manager John Schneider was still in play for Seattle as of Tuesday morning. For the Bears, Allen replaces veteran pass rusher Julius Peppers, who signed with the division rival Green Bay Packers after Chicago released him this offseason.
"We're really excited about adding Jared to our football team," Bears coach Marc Trestman told ChicagoBears.com. "We know what his abilities bring to the table. Jared is certainly a very experienced player in the league. We believe he's going to come in hungry and excited to be part of our football team, and we believe he'll fit right in with the other new players that we've added and the guys that are already on the defensive side of the ball. I know that our defensive coaches are excited as well."

Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks agree to extension
Pete Carroll's defense of his championship with the Seattle Seahawks will start with a new contract.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport broke the news Thursday night that the Seahawks reached an agreement with Carroll on a contract extension, per a source informed of the situation. The move adds two more seasons to Carroll's previous deal, locking up the coach through 2016.
Carroll had one season left on his five-year, $35 million contract. Armed with a new extension, the Super Bowl-winning coach now will be one of the three highest-paid coaches in the league, a source informed of the deal told Rapoport.
Carroll, along with general manager John Schneider, has managed to turn around the fortunes of the franchise in a short period. In his first season with the team, Carroll led the 'Hawks to an NFC West title despite a 7-9 record. In just his fourth season, the Seahawks won their first Super Bowl in franchise history, defeating the Denver Broncos 43-8 in February.
Carroll has a professional record of 71-57 in three head coaching stints with the New York Jets, New England Patriots and Seahawks.
