as shitty as remakes are, I think n9newunsixx5150 has a point here. This is a decent cast and the perfect director for this kind of movie. It just depends on how watered down this shit will be for hollywood..

I am cautiously optimistic. But I expect this to not be as good as the original. We'll have to wait and see. Another Verhoeven movie is being re-made: Total Recall. And the trailer for that looks like typical hollywood action crap devoid of the satire/camp/ultra-violence that made 80's Verhoeven great.

If they leave that out than it would destroy the movie and it would not make sense...anybody know if Michael Bay is involved, because then we can just delete this thread and forget about it...

If they keep the originals feel, while going a different storyline + updated effects, then it could be good.

Bay isn't involved, so far as I know.

Hugh Laurie (House) plays the CEO of Omnicorp. Gary Oldman is also in the movie. The guy playing Robocop's name is Joel Kinniman (sp?) Not sure who he is.
Joel Kinniman is a Swedish actor. He done a couple of movies here, most famous for a movie called Snabba Cash "fast money", part II is due next month. He play the role of the house keeper at the end in the movie Safe House with Denzel and Ryan. He is a ok actor but his english is not the best (yet).

RoXytHeLittLesl @RoXytHeLittLesl , cool song you got in your zig, that dude Faruk is dope as hell. Im not german but i get some words shit sounds raw.

Watchmen and A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s Jackie Earle Haley is signing on to star in the RoboCop remake that Jose Padilha will direct, says DL.

Haley will play Maddox, the guy who dispenses the military training to Robocop. Joel Kinnaman stars as the title character, while Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie, Samuel L. Jackson and Abbie Cornish are also set and actors including Jay Baruchel are circling the final leads.

“In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before. Director Jose Padilha reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman as the title character, Gary Oldman as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson as media mogul Pat Novak.”

If it is pg13 like the new total recall remake, all bets are off. It probably will be pg 13 since you dont see alot of R rated movies associated with ad campains and merchandising. Seems like all popular music and movies are only made to sell big macs and pepsis nowadays, not to entertain.

I think it doesn't matter how many people go to the movies...if you can recycle a move and make some money out of it, it doesn't really matter.

We are gonna see another 20 Batman, 30 Superman, 25 Spiderman, and 6 Robocop movies in our lifetime...
