Police Investigate Shooting, Wreck Along Highway 71

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating a shooting and wreck on Highway 71 near 85th Street early Monday morning.
According to investigators, two men in a van were headed north on the highway around 4:30 a.m. when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire. The driver of the van crossed over into the southbound lanes of Highway 71 and went down into a ravine.
KMBC's Brenda Washington said that a passenger in the van was killed. Police identified him as Andre Hicks, 34, of Sacramento, Calif. Investigators said that he died from a bullet wound.
The driver escaped from the van and crawled up the ravine and walked to a convenience store at 85th Street for help.
The driver told police he did not see the shooter because he ducked when the shooting started.

It fucks with me to the point of insanity. Where do we go from here. The danger that surrounds us all. How can this be our reality. It's a sad day indeed. My condolences to the Hicks family and friends. The drama will never end. This is a prime example that anybody can be touched at any time. A man of such magnitude and stature. The reasons being beyond our questions. But regardeless, another soul lost in the ungoing struggle. Damn!
I heard of this tragedy and thought it was a rumor. But, then reliable sources confirmed it was real. I was just getting prepared to go to the record release this Thursday. I coincidently bumped into to Keak Da Sneak this morning. Even though he did not speak of the incident, I could tell something wasn't right. He had this look in his eyes. Something had happend.
Being an aspiring bay area artist, it makes you question the uncertainty of these random acts of violence. Sometimes, it seems that there is a curse which lurks upon success. I know yall feel me. Look at the cycle of talents washed away in the bay before their prime. Where do we go from here.
Once again, I wanna send my condolences to all the friends and family of Mr. Andre "MAC DRE" "THIZZLE WASHINGTON" Hicks.

Man, this is horrible. Mac Dre is by far the most influential rapper I've ever heard. He was never afraid to change his shit up, and to me, he was gettin' harder as he got older. He wasn't just a rapper, he was a fuckin' rock star, livin his life to the fullest at all times. That's how i'm gonna remember Mac Dre, not just through his music, but how much he just makes me wanna "go stupid", ya know. i know every friday/ saturday night, me and my homies, we knock that mac dre, yoc the audi, we be goin' stupid, and i'm never gonna forget who put me on that. RIP MAC DRE.
