i for one am a happy camper with "strangers" especially hearing loki make an appearance...shocked when i heard his voice, if lynch was on it it would have been pure greatness but not sure if loki and lynch are still cool

i never even checked out cognito until this album, and i think its a good release. i bet any album he did without strange would be weak though. strange has an amazing ability to put together quality music

not sure about standout tracks yet, might come back and say a few

His release with No Limit "ReCOGnition" was pretty dope IMO. He reminds me of eminem without the whiny bitch voice and ridiculous joke songs.

Lynch was originally supposed to be on it, but he and Cog got to talking and they decided to do Pill Poppin' Music instead. Or, something to that effect.
too bad. i would have loved to hear loki and lynch again.. for me "strangers" is a solid track as is....hopefully one day i'll get another loki/lynch collab.

pill poppers was weak....that said im not a big fan of this album...cognito doesnt even have a bay area sound which is odd for me being a baydestrian that i am...where exactly is he from?

I went in this not knowing what to expect. After listening to it a couple times I think it's a very solid strange Music debut album by Cognito. I like Stevie Stone a lot. He is one of my favorite rappers right now and New Kid Comin is one of my favorite albums of 09. But I dont get the whole thing on hating Cognito because he's on Strange and Stevie isn't. Cognito cant just snap his fingers and all of sudden have Stevie Stone on Strange. lol

Just cuz dude dont go stupid dumb and hyphy doesnt make him NOT from the Bay. Pretty sure dudes from Vallejo though.
you dont need to be hyphy, dumb or stupid to be a bay rapper....i was more curious of to his origins....i live in vallejo.. he doesnt have that bay area sound...the bay has always had its own unique sound and it dont have to go hyphy

but yeah 3 plays through on the album and im just not feelin it

cognitos album sounds nothing like a "bay" album. some of his verses might make it so you can tell hes from the bay, but definitely not full songs.

E-40's album sounds like a bay album. HUGE difference
I'm sorry, but if you're not balls deep daily in the washy music from the Bay, then you can most definitely tell when an artist is from the area.

It's the same as differentiating a New Yorker from an Arkansan.

That's is a silly statement. If nobody said where they are from, there is no fucking way you can tell where a rapper is from. Maybe southern rappers, if they have a twang to their voice, but other than that, I don't think so.
