As the original "fixed camera, clunky controls, backtrack puzzling" genre that it was, yes. I think RE has evolved very well over the years.
I agree with that (mostly), but it took 4 GTA's before anyone could even come close to it, and technically speaking there would be no Saints Row if it weren't for GTA in the first place.
Really? Do I need to answer that? Show me any game before GTA 3 that could even touch it. Most "sandbox" games back then were open cities, but you couldn't leave a car. And frankly, Rockstar had already been making incredible open world sandbox titles with GTA on the PC.
When things like Saints Row or Crackdown come out, people immediately compare it to GTA. Micheal Jordan didn't invent basketball, but he came in, dominated, and innovated the sport so much that to this day people are still comparing players to him.
