Guida vs. Henderson, Yamamoto vs. Uyenoyama official for UFC on FOX 1
UFC brass today officially added two more contests to UFC on FOX 1, as Clay Guida (29-11 MMA, 9-5 UFC) meets Ben Henderson (14-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto (18-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) faces Darren Uyenoyama (6-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).
MMAjunkie.com previously reported the Guida vs. Henderson matchup, but the Yamamoto vs. Uyenoyama contest is a new booking.
Both fights are scheduled for the preliminary card of UFC on FOX 1, which takes place Nov. 12 at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
The night's main event, UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos, airs on FOX during a special one-hour broadcast. UFC officials have yet to announce broadcast plans for the preliminary bouts, but UFC president Dana White has ensured fans the contests will be available for viewing.
Yamamoto made his long-awaited UFC debut earlier this year and suffered a unanimous-decision loss to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 126. The K-1 HERO'S and DREAM vet now is just 1-3 in his past four fights following a seven-year, 14-fight win streak in Japan.
Yamamoto was slated to fight Chris Cariaso at UFC 130 but withdrew from the bout. A planned UFC 135 meeting with Damacio Page was also scratched after both suffered injuries.
Meanwhile, Uyenoyama makes his octagon debut. The 31-year-old fought most recently in a September 2010 TKO win under the Shooto banner. Uyenoyama also boasts bouts under the Strikeforce, DREAM and DEEP banners.
Uyenoyama had been expected to take part in this summer's DREAM bantamwieght grand prix, but a lingering hand injury forced him to withdraw from a May quarterfinal matchup.
UFC president Dana White also confirmed a bout previously announced via the UFC's official Twitter account, as Cub Swanson (15-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) meets Ricardo Lamas (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC).
