So Thomas from Forgive Durden and I came up with this idea to map out a record before writing a single piece of music. We named all the songs, decided the tempo and what key they would be in, and set up all the sessions in protools without even picking up a guitar. We laid down a whole album's worth of bass in about an hour within the set tempo/key parameters and then we started building the rest of the songs around the basslines, without altering the structures.
We've been super busy doing our own things so we only finished the first song so far, but you can hear it at
www.forgivedurden.com. Its pretty fun and the rest of the ten songs are all in a similar ballpark. Except with different names, tempos, and keys. Haha. It's just art for art, we have no interest whatsoever in doing anything more than finishing the songs one by one and posting them up for download. I'm gonna try to get home to seattle this month for a few days to finish a few more of the songs. Hope you guys like it!
