Racist white people in the US (50s-70s)

This particular time line always comes to me when I see a movie on TV depicting how some americans were/are treated because of their skin.

I know alot of people lived through slavery and continue to live through some forms of racism, it's all over the world. (I know what it's like to be a minority, however nothing as bad as being enslaved because of my skin).

So I wanted to ask about this specific timeline, as some of you had relatives live through these times so you would know alot about it and also had important civil rights movements.

This picture sums the racist white people from that era up.

I understand it is hard for people to see, but my question is, how hard was it for people with darker skin (I'm not saying black) to live through those years and does anyone have any personal stories they were told?

yes but classism played a small role, it is clear looking from the outside in that the main problem was the colour of ones skin.

Yes obviously I can understand it would be hard to go through thats why I was asking if anyone had any stories from that generation.

I can relate to

Rich people looking down on you
White anglo people looking down on you because you are an immagrant
verbal racism
violence because of your nationality
ect ect

but not anywehere as bad as dark skinned people during that time 50s-70s, from what I have read/seen it looks pretty fucked up. Just trying to find reasons why and how it happened.

That Era the real victims were dark skinned people, the way they were treated was fucking horrible & disgusting. I just cannot understand how it gets to that point.

The problem with some white people concerning empathy for past atrocities is that they try and downplay it by creating the delusion that white people were also systematically discriminated against. Poor, individual white people are completely irrelevant to the thread topic as it is a red herring and goes with out saying. Don't play stupid..

One example of white racism that I remember hearing is from WW2.. On more than one occasion, German POWs were allowed to eat in the same mess hall as white American soldiers, while blacks were forced to share a different one and serve themselves. They were so racist that they'd rather eat with a sworn enemy than a fellow American who happens to have darker skin. Pathetic..

poor white people didn't have it as bad cuz they were the muthafuckas doin the lynchings, race riots, rosewoods, black wall streets and so on. Rich white people may have looked down on them (poor white) as trash and instituted fucked up laws, but its never the rich white guy doin the fucked up physical shit, it's always the poor deluded one, who can't understand class and how it plays into the situation.
