Sony has made arrangements with Debix to offer AllClear ID PLUS to users of PlayStation Network and the streaming music service Qriocity in the United States.

Per the arrangement, all PSN and Quirocity users can register for twelve months of AllClear ID identity theft protection services at no charge. In order to be eligible to receive the complimentary year-worth of service, account holders must be residents of the United States with active PSN/Quirocity accounts as of April 20, 2011.

Sony says that interested PSN and Quirocity users should register on the U.S. PlayStation website to sign up for the identity theft protection service. Those that do choose to sign up for AllClear ID PLUS will need to enter the same email address used to register their respective PSN or Quirocity accounts.

AllClear ID PLUS is Debix's premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect users from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from fraud investigators.

Over the past few days, broadcaster PBS has been the target of a concerted series of attacks on its online presence. Those hackers now claim they've moved onto targeting Sony.

A tweet issued by the group, going by the name LulzSec, says "Hey @Sony, you know we're making off with a bunch of your internal stuff right now and you haven't even noticed? Slow and steady, guys."

Interesting. The highpoint of the hacks on PBS was a news story saying dead rapper Tupac Shakur was alive and well. In New Zealand

They really can't attack something worthwhile? Shit, go after the Westboro Baptist Church, or the KKK, or Bill O'Reilly. Why you gotta fuck with Big Bird and Tupac? fucking bullshit.

The PlayStation Store is back online and thank you everyone for your patience. You will notice a huge lineup of new downloadable games, demos, add-on content, themes, avatars and videos. Also, PlayStation Plus has been updated with new full game trials, free games and DLC, free avatars and even more discounts.

You may have noticed that the content promised as part of the Welcome Back offer is not yet live. It is currently in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon; we’ll be sure to let you know when.

The next PlayStation Store and PlayStation Plus update will be this Friday, June 3, and then we will roll right into some special publishes starting next week for E3 (so be sure to check back daily!).

As promised, and after over a month of downtime following attacks by hackers, Sony's PlayStation Network has now returned to full operability in North America.

This means that not only can players engage in multiplayer, but you can finally once again access things like the PlayStation Store as well.

We've been able to access the Store in both North America and Australia, with everything almost working as expected (the "Welcome Back" offers aren't in there yet). Which, you know, should be the norm, but after over a month of downtime, it's just nice to see the thing back up and running
