there is no point to have a 160 gb hard drive on a gamin system. at least not until someoen figures out how to put all the old NES, SNES, Sega Genesis roms on ps3 or 360.

all those roms would only amount to a little over a gigabyte

I believe you are talking to me, and yes I know that. I have a Wii.

But I'm talking brand new games.. Wii can't do that because the lack of space. But instead of going to the store to buy SOCOM, you download it.. I'm not sure if they are even releasing it on disk.. I read it in the new EGM.

360 is planning on doing this, too, with the Elite, I believe.. It is the future.. A full game would only take around an hour to download, and it'd also eliminate the whole fuss about 360 not having enough room due to blu-ray not being there. But then, the 360 really fucked all that up by releasing a system without a hard drive.

It does suck that they put out the base model with no harddrive but you can buy the 120gb harddrive for around 2 bills if you wanted and it would bring the total cost up to a little over 500 close to the base price of the PS3.

that's sorta pointless though.. A 1GB SD card cost around 20 or so.

Most games are much bigger than that.. You'll need some huge SD cards.. I've never looked for anything bigger than a Gig though.

But doesn't the Wii not allow virtual console games on a SD card, also?

Storing games and music on flash drives/hard drives are the future. Dont be surprised to see CD's all but eliminated in 3 years and DVD's used for media gone in 5.

Just imagine, either DL all your albums or going to a store and buying an album that is on a USB flash drive instead of a disc...
