i think the ps move was a huge let down, they basically copyed the wii and the funny thing about that is, im about to go old school. ninteno 64 was never in their plans, they sold the "new nintendo katina idea" to sony, thus the birth of ps1, which was a major burn to nintendo bc at the time playstaion went to discs. ps became the leading gaming system and left nintendo in the dust with the 64,but loyal fans stayed with nintendo.

edit: it also killed the sega system, which lead them to only publish games.
Really what put Sony in the lead during that console generation was they simply had more games. They also signed exclusivity deals to insure they had more games than Nintendo. This generation, they got cocky and didn't renew major publishing deals like the GTA series and FF. Nintendo played it smart with having the last 2 major installments of Dragon Quest on their systems, that game actually outsells FF in Japan, they really love familiarity and show crazy brand loyalty. I haven't checked but I'm pretty sure the 3DS is steadily outselling the Vita right now.

Also, Sega kind of knocked themselves out the race with Shemnue, they spent like a 10 figure budget on a game that didn't sell nearly enough to break even.

LOL the PSP outsold Vita on launch. Make sure ur reading that right. When the Vita was released, the PSP moved more units that week than the Vita did.

Shemnue was such a good game though..

Sega shit canned the dude behind the dream cast right before launch so the basically shot themselves in the dick for that.

I really want a gaming PC. That way I can continue to fuck over big game companies, but instead of buying used games I'll just pirate them.

In all honesty though, if future consoles go download-only the games better be at least cheaper. I mean, there would be no more manufacturing or shipping costs so that should pull the price down a notch right? I still think download-only is a bad idea though.

from what ive seen on the playstation network, at least with the PSP GO, is games arent really all that much cheaper, at least in the grand scheme of things. sure you arent paying 69.99 or 59.99 for brand new releases, youre paying 39.99 max is the most ive seen, but the difference is it will pretty much ALWAYS be 39.99 for months and years. while games in physical form degenerate in price rather swiftly.

two years after a game is released, shit will still be 39.99 as a download on PSN, shit might be 4.99 at your local pawn shop used. it seems if youre buyign brand new, its a decent deal. but if youre buying really old games to build up a collection or for nostalgia its expensive as fuck.

no idea how much downloadable PS3 games are or if they even have them

pretty soon its not going to matter either way

if you download it, its tied to your specific account / system.

i strongly believe with the new systems, microsoft and sony are going to put "anti-piracy" countermeasures in effect. look at what microsoft did with their windows validation shit to combat windows piracy; they'll use that exact same validation process for any physical disc that is sold with their new system, almost guarantee it. sony will continue to push their downloads and will have similar measures in place. pretty soon you will only be able to use the games you bought on your system only; or maybe youd be able to bring the game to a friends house youd just have to sign into your account to prove that you purchased the game, and they wouldnt be able to play it unless signed in to your account.

the days of being able to pick up used games are almost gone. the industry wants their money, every used game sold is a brand new game that isnt sold

People will always find ways around it, if the price is lowered I wouldn't mind as much.

The fact that both major console developers are rumored to be implementing anti-used game technology is my biggest reason for not buying a durrango or orbis. ...the rest being that I just have no interest in a new console. I'm still trying to play through my current library. I have around 90 360 games and probably haven't put 35% even in my console yet.

Also, I've been on the 360 official forums and I told those fools that I was gonna start pirating games if they give me my MS points (got 800 for signing up to live rewards and 20 for taking a survey.) I gave them FAIR WARNING, they responded by telling me they would correct the error but they didn't heed my warning. I told them that I would download 360 exclusives and mod my console if they didn't fix the problem.

So now I'm gonna get this console moded this week. Will I still be able to get patches and shit?

You stole those.

JK again, bro.

But with a modded console I can get the dlc shit for free? How does that work? And I don't even play online with the 360 anyway. When I do get online with it its for a patch, dlc or live game.

Just google whatever you're looking for. You'll come across forums explaining everything in detail. I just know that you can, not how.
