I'll check back in Siccness in a year. I'll leave y'all to it. But if I see a damn "PIRU'S" post or a "Who is SD's best rapper" post I'll just shake my head and say I told you so.

Feel free to talk amongst yourselves. It's what you do best.

Black men don't have time for "gang politics". We have a black man in the White House who has raised the bar for all of us. So maybe we should focus on "real" politics. Who better to help these young cats recognize that than the people with a platform but, what do they do? They make fuckin' posts about PIRUS?!?!?!?!

That's exactly my point. Dago will constantly get overlooked because: a) there's only a 5% black population and that doesn't lend itself to a MAJOR Hip Hop scene. b) of that 5% how many are Hip Hop music consumers? Barely any(in the grand scheme of creating a movement)!!!! c) what little consumers you have for the market are divided over a 20+ year gang feud d) all of this is WHY the talent here will STAY overlooked.

You're making my points for me, Chief. In my estimation Mitch and June are head and shoulders above those 2 in the talent department but, if THEY(Soulja Boy & Mike Jones) can make the impact they made with damn near ZERO talent, then the problem isn't TALENT. It's lack of support to build the movement and generate buzz. And if you think the pictures don't match, it's YOUR eyes that need checkin.

No hate, tryin to motivate. Whatever SD has been doing top push it's artists to the next level CLEARLY hasn't worked. So if my words "struck a nerve" and Mitch and June REALLY want that next level cake and use my opinions as motivation, the city will have me to thank. Obviously telling Mitch and June how tight they are on a damn message board hasn't pushed "their own" project to Gold or Platinum status.

You don't know what I've done or what record companies I've worked for(and currently work for). My problem isn't with the talent level...it's there. My problem is with what YOU just wrote. "people wouldnt be in here pushing it". What is being pushed "in here" is further instigation of a gang situation that is older than a lot of the cats that post "in here". How can that be helpful? When you know the demographic as well as I do, you know that Mitch is pulling a Plaxico. He's shooting his own self in the leg UNNECESSARILY!!!!

NY can be divided. There are over 10 million people there. NEVER compare SD to NY when Hip Hop is involved. It's the Mecca. And don't be mad at me for saying it....it's just the facts.

If you only knew how much I want to see success in this region...

It's not me with tunnel vision. It's all of the people that can't get past the PAST. Tunnel vision is red, green and blue rags in 2009!!!!! I understand the anger we had back in the 70's after the Panthers got torn apart. But if, in 2009, you still don't understand that the gang shit keeps you as a "pawn".... then you don't deserve anything better. We CANNOT have 35+ year old men rappin about "COLORS" anymore. If you didn't get on that bus back in '88 thru '97 you missed out on the money that came with it. Unfortunately the whole world had to witness how REAL and ACTIVE California niggas are when Pac and Biggie took this West Coast shit a little too lightly and they paid for it.

Snoop had to make "Beautiful" and "Sensual Seduction"... and alot of money. 50 had to make "Candy Shop"... and a lot of money. Cube makes family movies... and alot of money.

Mitch makes threads titled "PIRUS".

And y'all are mad at ME?!?!?!?!
I agree with quite a bit of what youre saying but since youre in the industry whats the difference between 30+ year old men rapping about "COLORS" as you put it as compared to that same age group rapping about drug dealing, cars,,clothes and women all things that when looked at in the way youre looking at Mitch's subject matter are immature or outdated. I'm curious because as much as people say "gangbangin is played out" and the west coast needs to update its subject matter...every other hot rapper raps about damn near the same shit just from other parts of the country's perspective so why is it such a crime for the west coast to rap about things from its regions perspective

Hell yeah. Thank you.

What heated me is that he's criticizing Mitchy and Big June. For what? Bekuz they are not mainstream??? You think they are one dimensional artists? Soulja boy.. come on. Mike Jones... come on.

Only difference is they have the backing and connects.

You want SD to blow up, then be more constructive.

But its not SD that's been held down... Alot of artists thru out the nation is kept down. "Unmarketable" to whom?

Everyone on siccness or the so cal forum believes in something and supports something. Whether it be a mixtape or a whole label.. so goin on here trying to find a reason to tear down an artist to me is dumb.

But dont get me wrong, he does have valid points. But you look at Mainstream hip hop and you tell me how fucked up it is. People with no talent making millions. False flaggin/bandwagon gang members making millions, False Identity crisis rappers making millions... Frauds making millions...

so dont criticize the underground's talent.. criticize the mainstream for supporting bullshit.

I'll meet you at your level since you wanna break things down.
I took time to read it and I took time to respond properly.

Gang/street Politics is real politics. I'm pretty sure alot of people cant go to different neighborhoods or cities without out some kinda of altercation. Mitchy makin a thread about Piru's was to make a point and to show some of the pirus he is working with. Obama being in office is a WELCOMED CHANGE (I voted for him, not because he is black, because of what he wants to do). But like every change, gotta take the right steps.. even the smallest steps. And Mitchy Slick saying he is working with Pirus might not be the big step to you, but its a step to clear something up.

Half the Nation is overlooked. Not just San Diego. Other places make good music too.. and they are over looked. So dont single out SD. But each place has its own struggle to make a niche in the hip hop scene/market. But gang fued isnt just San Diego, its all over.. but mainly in the West Coast.
Why is it that Snoop Dogg and The Game can make money off the gang lifestyle? And they are from LA, which is just as bad and divided as SD. Gangsta rap is a genre in hip hop.

"One dude raps in a nasal tone like he has fuckin sinus infection and super high pitched like his nuts aint dropped. The other is the spitting image of Jabba the Hut."

The points you made were: Mitchy has a nasal problem and Big June is Jabba the Hutt, and SD should give up on the music scene. Really wasnt about talent. And Yeah, I dont see how the picture of Big June and Jabba the Hutt have to do with talent... that was just a disrespectful jab period. But I dont have my hater locs on (maybe that is why my vision seems to be more clear than yours).
You're repeating what I said. Companies are supportin bullshit. They give money to talentless wits while real talent stay HELD DOWN.

False again. Clearly you were talking shit. That's hands down. You didnt motivate shit.. infact you try to demotivate by saying "SD should give up". A compliment on their talent or a song is feedback so they know where THEIR FANS acknowledge their music. And whatever SD's music scene is doing WITHOUT MAJOR INDUSTRY HELP, is doing fine. Because people buy their cds. Kourse they dont have the major distribution deal... so its gotta be done by any means (on forums, on websites, word of mouth, etc).

You can be Dr Dre for all I care... but your attitude supports my statement that, "All the wrong people, in the right places". And that is whats holding down the Westcoast and hip hop. People that want to find no talents and sell them to the new generation of hip hop fans (let us say its white middle class american kids) off Gimmicks. People who think its easy to be a gang member(lil wayne) but dont know the realities of it (which you can find on any real Damu or Crip artists tape). Or they want to find anyone that can copy the current hot trend artist. People claiming identities and lifestyles that are not their's... That's the formula to success right now. I'm sorry so many people dont want sell out and Be real to themselves.

As far as whats "being pushed it here"... well, again he was trying to make a statement and since there is some issues, the debate got side tracked.
But what I meant by "people wouldnt be in here pushing it" wasnt totally about gangs... it was about music. We has fans on the siccness push the artists music... which also has some effect on the issue of the local gangs (read all my past comments, I am not trying to instigate shit, but you are).

"SD is too divided for any rapper to succeed."

NY can be divided. There are over 10 million people there. NEVER compare SD to NY when Hip Hop is involved. It's the Mecca. And don't be mad at me for saying it....it's just the facts.
First you say SD is too Divided. Then when I saying other cities are divided as well, you say we cant compare.
comparing cities is like apples and oranges.

SD is too divided to be successful.
NY is too divided but has more people so it can be successful.
Shouldnt NY be less successful because the division is multiplied by more?

We forgot one factor... BIG LABELS GIVING MONEY. Just like SD, there are other movements and artists that are struggling in NY... I even think there are more in NY. But money is given to certain groups Dipset(in their prime) and G Unit... what about Bad Company? Bang Bang Boogie? Snow Goons? SH Boyz?... same underground status and doing the same things to get their music out (grinding on the streets/ out the trunk/ websites/ forums).

If you only knew how much I want to see success in this region...
But you said this:
"leave the rap shit to cities whose Hip Hop fans will get behind the artists and support the movement."
What do you think we are doing? We are supporting the artists and in fact, we want shit to work out so we can hear a collaboration between Certain parties.

It's not me with tunnel vision. It's all of the people that can't get past the PAST. Tunnel vision is red, green and blue rags in 2009!!!!! Cant get past the past? Why do you think that? People have died for what they believe in (whether its right or wrong) so people are not gonna easily let down because of that. If being a pawn is what you think, then you know the moves have to be calculated.

Grown men talking about color seems right to me though. Because those katz (including anyone in their late 20's to 40's +) went thru a fuckin war in those years growing up. I'm pretty sure its still poppin... but shit has slowed down(and maybe in some places it hasnt) but will never stop. So someone that is 19yrs old, cant tell me the shit I was goin thru in 1992.. when shit was REAL ACTIVE (where I was).

As far as missing money up until 97... give or take.. thats when bullshit started to take over IMO. Money wasnt missed, it was given to the wrong people. Shit was mismanaged to this day. That is what changed the playing field.

"Unfortunately the whole world had to witness how REAL and ACTIVE California niggas are when Pac and Biggie took this West Coast shit a little too lightly and they paid for it."
Yes, I agree. Why do think Mitchy and Big June is an issue? Because of that reason you mentioned. How Real and Active homies are. and NOBODY is taking it lightly. Except you.

Snoop had to make "Beautiful" and "Sensual Seduction"... and alot of money. 50 had to make "Candy Shop"... and a lot of money. Cube makes family movies... and alot of money.

My man......you're in Nebraska. The sheer stupidity of taking gang activity to the Cornhusker state is BEYOND assinine.
Well, when you grow up, you can move around, do what you gotta do to take care of your life and family . So a man moved to a different state. Is he suppose to forget who he is and what he went thru?

Maybe the Gang thing is a trend to you ( and any industry artists) where you can just turn it off and not worry about it comfortably, but REAL street artists live with it day to day. Its part of their life and personality. Not outta trend, but growing up with it and being a part of it. So if someone succeeds in doing better in life, why would you forget your roots?

i feel what you sayin with that but i don't agree. simply for the fact that you have nikkas like lil wayne, young jeezy, and gucci mane going platinum when they stole our sh*t. they are going platinum using our image and our west coast lifestyle. red and blue rags only helped them sell even more.

wow. god thought into your arguments. i see what both of you are saying but it think its simple as this...hip hop music in dago isnt going anywhere cause theres nothing new and innovative coming out of here...spitting about your hood, your paper, your whips, bitches, drugs, etc. is old. i guess if its only me whos over these lyrics, but everyone else is still into it, then at least a different sound, style something is needed. shit is just typical. the hyphy thing in the bay kinda did it for a while, but that formulas been played out too now

I would think that, but problem is, as mentioned, others are spittin on the same subject. Gangsta rap, mobb rap, hardcore rap, is all the same in my book. Again, its a genre that if it was played out.. nobody would be listening to it right? XXL Guns vol 4 is selling out around SD. Obviously, people still love gangsta rap. Mainly because alot of people have gone thru it or still live it.

As far as Gangsta rap Genre, everyone is speaking upon it and puttin their spin. As mentioned, Young Geezy, G Unit... where ever you listen to hip hop, alot of the katz are speaking about those same subjects.
But if you are over those that type of music, Shouldnt you be off this site? (not a jab at you) This site mainly consists of Gangsta rap.

As for hyphy, hit up the BART subforum and ask around.
