I work wid hella nurses that make 55-80 bucks an hour, and they always flossin something new or fancy. Always wanna go out and eat. I just sit at home and cook my own damn food. I drive my 90' Infiniti M30 I picked up for $100 bucks and park next to their 08 BMW (I am not kidding).

Whenever we all have some get together events, I always set up hikes (free) while some them want to set up some trip to Grand Canyon ($400 trip).

they had a christmas dinner and plates were $100 per person, I didnt go because I dont wanna spend that money for shit I probably dont like.

I just care about payin bills, and saving up for shit. Other than that I've been down to get my hand dirty. I get by with my job, but I still wake up early to work at Labor Ready. I worked 3 days at Toys R Us for a christmas.. Just because I like to have just abit of cash. Now I got a second job being offered at another hospital, which i will take up. But I'm still a regular kat... and I think that trips them out that I still dont mind working "lesser jobs". I tell them I'm from that background, I know what its like to grind and bust ass for little money. Getting dirty or grease and being burnt out for that 9.00 bucks an hour.

But if you have that understanding, You'll always be on top IMO. Just because you can work other jobs. Some of these people I work with never had another job.... so they find it weird when I tell them I gotta work 3 days doing construction or roofing or some carpentry.

I see a few people complain about working there, and when they ask me, I tell them I'm just glad to have a good paying job. Hands down.

it hasn't affected me much, it just let me cop my cadillac for super cheap this summer due to the "gas crisis"... and now look at gas prices...

no job is "below me", and it's bs if you say you can't find a job..... DO SOMETHING, work 2 or 3 jobs if you wanna come up, do somethin illegal for some side cash and keep it low-pro if you gotta... i work, go to school and i have money in the bank so...

i don't believe that someone with a professional degree would be unable to find a job that pays better than grocery store cashier... if so, they aren't looking hard enough. sometimes getting a good job means moving or making other sacrifices

that's why i am studying to become an attorney (don't worry i'd never be a prosecutor, i don't think they'd let me at this point anyway)

yeah there might be a hiring freeze in your city or whatever but if you wanna come up and make some money or just survive that might mean movin to another state or city or whatever... the point is that if you want that high paying job bad enough you gotta put in some work, to me that's better than sittin around complaining about your job or your lack of one

Alot of people cant afford to move or are to scared to make that sacrifice.

I moved from Seattle to San Francisco, and for about a year, i was working my ass off, barely getting by... Even my when I went for interviews for my current position, I was told I didnt have experience in the medical field. But I was given a chance after I proved myself in a second interview.

If shit didnt happen, I probably would be suffering right now. Hands down. My prior jobs at the airport and in Kent/Renton Washington have all been hit hard.

You also forgot that alot of people have outstanding student loans, and so people work so they can pay that off.
------------------------------------

Also moving costs are expensive, unless you dont have shit or have family you can stay with.
If you have alot of stuff, where you gonna keep that stuff? I had to rent a storage unit, while I paid 500 bucks for a room here.

that is another thing too.. what makes moving to another city an advantage? especially now. You gotta know is big in these areas. what I do now was something that I planned down the line, but during the time, I was thinking I'd never be there for awhile.

don't get it twisted, i wasn't directing that comment toward you, just in general.

roger, you are right about those hurdles, but look at yourself - you made it happen. if one is too scared to make some sacrifices in order to advance, that's their own damn fault.

Another thing you can do is put companies that are out of biz on your resume to bulk it up or whatever... No way they can disprove it

Yeah, I was hella lucky. I moved down here to finish school, because I quit my job in Seattle after I started to see it go down hill. I moved here because they had the most schools offering what I needed to take... but I was very pesimistic (sp?) about it because I would be taking a big chance and if it would fail, I'd be left with bills piling up and worse. I was looking at Union training (such as electical, masonry, carpentry, and also almost took a job as a power line man), but needed money right away to move outta the motel, so temp jobs were immediate and then got a job with a company that worked for the airports. At night I went to school. If I didnt catch that break... man, I hate to even think it.

Some companiese will not check, I think it cost money. The hospital I work at now, well, my manager, she actually called all my references to confirm and she kinda interviewed them with "if he came back now, would you still work with him", "How was his work ethic"... I was trippin. But I got a lot of back up references for that.

I worked at Sysco foods doing Night selector (load pallets up with food) and they were checking jobs. They would ask for as much info as possible. I asked why and HR told me they can look up the companies reference number thru something (I think taxes, not sure) to verify you worked there.
And Sysco Foods has a high turn over rate, because its a physically demanding job.

i'd take that money and invest in drugs , alcohol, prostiution, or gambling . those things are always recession proof
hahahahah, if that was the case, we'd all be doing it. But I dont want to go to jail, lose my possessions or worry about being blasted for some shit. But then again, I also aint part of the mob. or someone like Midget Mulley.
