THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT...L.A. IS BIG BUT MOST OF ALL THOSE MURDERS ARE IN THE SAME AREA IN THE INNERCITY AND ARE EITHER IN EAST L.A.,SOUTH CENTRAL OR WEST L.A...IF YOU GONNA GO WITH SIZE THEN PUT EVERY SINGLE CITY FROM FRESNO ON UP TO FRISCO ALL TOGETHER AND L.A BY ITSELF STILL HAS MORE MURDERS..LIKE I SAID 66 IS NOT BAD AT ALL...

WIcked that murder statistic site you have is innacurate...
it says for 1992 the whole county of San Mateo had 17 homicides, when in fact, just one of the cities in it had 42 that year

also...San Francisco has never gone below 50 homicides in like 80 years or some shit...had it listed at 25 last year

if you compare the size of LA to the amount of people in Oakland and San Francisco combined (1.15 million) there will be about 165 homices this year between the two cities...LA will have 500? 3 times bigger, makes it about even...
and LA and San Francisco don't have nearly as many hoods
truthfully...shit is worse in the bay then in LA i think
nothin to be proud of either

Its not the total number that matters, its the number per 100,000. Man, this is nothing compared to the ealry 90's, but I think they need to dump more money into developing oakland, if people grow up in a depressed area, there gonna be depressed, simple. Oakland got fucked outta alot of development, its really shiesty, and I think alot of it has to do with the racial make up of the city, that keeps developers out:(, sad people cant get over shit like that in this day and times.

ILL SAY IT AGAIN,,,80% OF THE MURDERS IN L.A. ARE CONFINED TO THE SAME AREAS IN THE INNERCITY...L.A. IS BIG YES BUT MURDERS AINT HAPPENING EVERYWHERE,LIKE THE WHITE NIEGHBORHOODS...THE MURDERS ARE IN THE SAME NIEGHBORHOODS, IN THE SAME DISTRICTS WHICH IS SMALL LIKE EAST L.A.BOYLE HIEGHTS,WEST & SOUTH L.A. AND IF YOU LIVE IN THOSE AREAS YOUR BASICALLY LIVING DANGEROUS...ALL I SAID WAS 66 MURDERS AINT THAT BAD,MOTHERFUCKERS GET ALL OFFENSIVE,ACTING LIKE I STOLE SOMETHING...I AINT QUESTIONING ANYBODYS MANHOOD.....DONT POST THE SHIT UP IF YOU MOTHERFUCKERS DONT WANT RESPONSES YOU DONT LIKE....

ive read through a few posts, and i personally think a part of the problem is kids having kids, fuck having people from peidmont trying to reach out, how could they relate people in your own community, i had an aunt that lived in peidmont so i now how it is, get some condom distribution pumpin, cause you know there is no damn way for folks to stop having sex these days, we need some people to step up in the communities showing these folks options on living a successful life, scholarships, government help etc. back to what i originally said tho, how can a person thats 16 years old raise a kid, i can only think of one friend of mine that has a respectable kid, all the others running around with no sense of self control, and no respect for their parents, it reflects on the parents themselves, i mean damn, your kids are basicly a reflection of yourself, if you are putting in hard work, they are gonna act like its the thing to do and mirror that. thats just my opinion tho i dont have any kids or live in a rough community but thats what my perspective is

There's a couple of things going on in the 'Town in my opinion. I don't really see a solution, shit there ain't no easy answers out there.

First and foremost, we got to change the emphasis in the streets from making easy money & fucking bitches to education & legitimate income. I see the violence as a biproduct of a mentality that dictates the pursuit of scrill as the #1 goal when education is not pursued. Shit is desperate on the streets & alot of people just dont value life. The day a college grad gets more respect in the streets than the cat running the block, I guartee the murder rate will plummet.

I went to oakland public schools my whole life, and theyre shitty. This definitely is a problem. It's hard to be serious about learning when your in some run down shit hole with books from the late 80's. But if you actively pursue education, get in GATE programs, advanced placement or whatever, you can get a decent education. I didn't get that education, ( i dropped out of High School after 3 semesters) but some folks i know did alright.

Obviously getting more viable business in the commmunites of East & West Oakland to get some more local jobs would help...if you're at work youre not going to be in the streets doing dirt. Thats a tricky business though 'cause what outside deceloper or business owner wants to setup shop in a run down, poverty stricken area? Its a viscous circle, where the problem precludes the solution.

on the La/ Oakland thing, the murder rate is ridiculess considering like 85% of those murders are happening in the residential areas of East Oakland...and the populatin in there is proabably less than 150,000...East Oakland is definitely as dangeous as LA, and LA ain't no fucking joke.
