Thank you for saying what needed 2 be said. I had 2 shake my head at that I dont know why they had to bring that shit on this post. Of all posts, thats hella messy. Its so petty compare to what we are talking about right here. People are dying!!! A boy I went to school is one of the people that was included in those 66 homicides. He was ONLY 18 years old!!! sAME AGE AS ME! Could you imagine not being here any longer, could you imagine only living to be 18?!

My friend brought up something that hurt so bad to think about. A lot of these young men ended up dying on the corners they had been grindin & just survivin on for so long. They had dreams they had goals they wanted a better future for themselves. They didnt want to be out on that corner for the rest of their lives. And now too many will be there forever. They cant ever get off that corner anymore.

Almost 300 people have read this post and hardly any of you have said anything that YOU are willing to do to help stop this. Yeah Oakland has been like this, Ive lived here my whole life--but its getting worse again. Theres so much we all could be doing. And if you're not from Oakland you can still help us out here---were all in the same struggle. Or do something positive in your own community.

Im challenging myself as well I have been active in my community and volunteering as much as I can. Ive been working on getting a teen center in Oakland and now I'm working even harder. I will accomplish my goal. even just educatin other people (makes a difference, lettin them know that all those people killed were not bad they were loved and they existed just like any of us with fears and goals. That our young people need to be nurtured. Educate the ignorant you never know who you could be talking to that will listen 2 you and make a difference with your info.

There I went on one of my lil tangents but I think so many people don't realize how serious this is and that people should get angrier. Be upset and realize its on all of us to do somethin.

100 new cops - They voted on that shit the other day and it passed. I think more people will get caught for doin dirt, but it aint really gonna stop them from doin it, more people r jus gonna get caught.

Neighborhood Watch Groups - We aint snitches out here, most people arent gonna say shit, and those who would are already callin the cops newayz.

Entertainment Venues - I dont really get this one, what kinda shit r u talkin bout? We do got movie theaters, and a mall in san leandro. Clubs aint really gonna b koo cuz theyre gonna get shutdown too quick, and mainly every nigga in oakland aint gonna get off the streets to go to a club when they could b on the streets comin up.

Community Centers - Good idea but niggas got better shit to do then go to a community center

Violence Outreach - Same as above, its a koo idea but to get niggas to go there u pretty much gotta arrest them and give them a court order.

100 cops--Oakland police already be hasslin people as it is. They cant stop the homicides and they arent neccesarily gonna solve the cases because people r gonna continue 2 keep their mouths shout. See the city always just tries 2 smooth over problems. Cops cant get 2 the root of the problems--the prevention work. You know making things better before they start.

Neighborhood watch groups--You know people walkintg around their neighborhoods--makin sure things are safe. People from the community being there not 2 snitch but 2 keep an eye out on others in their neighborhood. People might be more trusting of them if they need help than the cops.

Oakland doesnt have 2 much an ice ice skating rink and movie theatres. OAKLAND does not have a mall, bowling alley, roller skating rink---things of that nature. It would just give more possibilities of things 2 do.

Community centers--not the regular kind but the type that OAKLAND YOUTH are interested in. Stuff that they want. Like a recording studio-dances-concerts-job placement/trainings& career expolration a different kind of center that offers services they are interested in and as well an entertainment venue, place 2 kick it.

Violence Outreach--your idea is not bad, I think more people that have drug offenses or lesser crimes should go through alternative programs like learning about violence prevention and them being the teachers bringing it back 2 the community instead of doing time.

These are all things that arent really bein done (or not enough) that together could make a huge impact on the whole community. But 2 get it we gotta start demandin things like this or comin up with other solutions.

i dont know if it was already said but it probably was, but imma just reitterate it, the residents of OAKLAND need JOBS... i have a feeling more than just 8% of the homicides are drug related... i bet about 50% of the homicides are drug related on da real... if the citizens of the whole city of Oakland had good jobs and not menial jobs then the murder rate would just drop drastically... Almost all of the killings involved within the african american community is always about MONEY... from sellin dope in the east to sellin records in HP... what these young soldiers need is good jobs!!!! and isnt it true that the Oakland school district is one of the poorest school districts in the whole damn yay... cuz i know what poor school systems can lead too... the schools out here in hayward are realy bad, but i know that OAKLAND GOT IT HELLA MORE WORSE than our school district...

Oakland is a city that's being forgotten... nothing is blowin up there, the docks are the only source of revenue that is still bringing in a considerable amount of money...

That would be something good for the town or maybe a mentor program where older cats can help the little kids growin up and take them under their wing so they don't make the same mistakes. If these teens had good influences growing up and had brothers or sisters to set good examples, that would keep a lot of these kids off the streets.
