I think Martinez takes it this time.

I think Williams is on a decline a bit and his punch resistance is getting worse. He was shook, wobbled & hurt by Kermit Cintron right b4 Cintron leap frogged out of the arena.

Hope I'm wrong about that though cuz I like P-Will

Did you pick Martinez by KO? I'm picking Martinez by decision. I think he gets the better of him this time pocketing most of the early rounds, without getting dropped himself. Although Martinez seems to recover well from a knockdown and even get better after it happens.

I got Williams by decision but wouldnt be surprised if he catches Martinez and stops him. Williams gots hands and the reach is so much in his favor that Sergio cant hit and run like he likes to do.

That is really gracious of Williams to give him a rematch.
I don't think it was in the contract either. Don't think its a matter of money because William's isn't an attraction.

Wonder what it is. Maybe Martinez called him out...

didn't you see the first fight? Williams doesn't know how to use his reach or his height, he fights like a short man
yeah your right about the reach thing but he still won the fight and the last time he got a crack at the same fighter a second time he knocked the guy out but obviously Martinez is a better fighter then Quintana, still I think Williams will make the adjustments to win more decisively

i give williams props too but HBO pretty much forced this fight because they wouldnt approve any other fight for williams he declined the first offer by martinez and couldn't land another appointment hbo is putting up good money for this fight also martinez was going to fight alfred angulo but angulo turned it down so hbo is really the driving force here

I feel the same way..Williams hasnt been throwing his high number of punches in these last couple fights, like he's done in the past...

He's my favorite boxer...But he has to step it up or Martinez is gonna put him to sleep...Martinez is dangerous and has been fighting real good lately

Right.
They pretty much didn't have anywhere else to go I guess.
That's a shame, but it will be nice to see it again.

Smart turn down by Angulo though. Isn't anywhere near ready...

I got Martinez by KO, decision at worse. I don't see Williams beating him. Cintron hurt him before he decided to spear the ropes, and I just see Martinez catching him, hurting him, and then going for broke on Williams' face. LOL

RedRum you make a good point. Paul is showing signs of becoming damaged to me. His workrate is going down and he doesn't move his head as much on defense. Martinez is just in a better place mentally with the Pavlik win. If P-Will moves them hands then he wins, if not then Martinez will stop him late.

P-Will liked slow and old in the Kermit fight. The same Kermit that got beat up by Martinez. P-Will has no defense and in everyone of his fights he's taking big shots all fight. Paul's best defense is his work-rate and his work-rate is going down in every fight. Mark my words Paul has about 2-3 more good fights left in him and his done, if he doesn't improve his defense. All action no defense fighters don't last long Rump. Gatti and MAB prolonged there careers by boxing and using there defense more later in there careers.

paul williams didn't look old against Cintron he simply chose to box and fight cautious the first four rounds instead of going toe-to-toe, which he does sometimes.

Kermit, as retarded as the guy can be, is still one of the hardest punchers at 147-154. He has real one punch knock out power, so P-Will getting rocked by him isn't a big surprise. The only guy I've seen take a FLUSH shot from Kermit and not get rocked was margarito, but we all know he has (or had) an iron face.

I tend to think that pwill is on the decline too but I also think this has to do with the fact he's actually fighting bigger guys closer to his actual size, versus before when he was at 147 fighting guys 6-7 inches smaller and him outweighing them by 15-20 pounds on fight night. Even against Margarito he towered over him (and he never heart Margarito either). I just think it comes with the territory fighting at 154-160 pounds these guys are bigger, stronger and can take his punches. I drool at the thought of what would happen if he were to step in the ring with James Kirkland.

You have to take into consideration that these fighters you are calling shot out or damaged are taking on higher caliber opponents. So they wont always look as good as they previously did.

Paul Williams was running through people and hit a wall against Margarito. He didn't shine in that fight. He didn't shine against Cintron nor Martinez. The reason being that these are top tier boxers. Some of the best in the game.

These are professional fighters who have been doing this their entire life. People don't just become damaged overnight.

Williams is just fine...he's the same as he used to be.

I guess we will see in his next fight. I just think that the Martinez fight took a lot out of him. In his last fight to me he wasn't boxing at all against Kermit, he just looked slow and gun shy. That head first no defense style against good and elite fighters = Short career.
